So I bought the Signature Edition for PC on eBay about an hour ago. Well I went back to look at the auction again and I see it's a PAL version of the game. So will this work in my PC if I'm american or did I just make the worst purchase of all time?

*Edit* I don't really play PC games ever, I usually play on the 360 and I know very few games are region free for Xbox and was wondering if PC games work the same way.

PC games don't have region lock (well some from japan have problems doe to the kanji), but the postage is going to be expensive (if the sender is European)

Thank the lord. I only paid about $50 for it with shipping so it wasn't too bad.

It will work fine, but I bet you won't be able to activate it.....because it will be looking for the EU servers. Possibly it willa ctivate, but won't activate your DLC for the same issue....

Old problem...

If that turned out to be the worst purchase of all time I'd say humankind has been surprisingly lucky.

Then you've got it cheaper than I will with my free delivery. :)

Of course, another factor we have not thought about is, how did this Ebay seller actually get their hands on the SE anyway as it's already sold out?

He couldn't have.  At best the OP bought a promise to be sent the SE when the seller gets it.  At worst this is a clear scam.

The same way everyone else gets the SE to sell?  Or even the same way as consumers are expected to get it?

Hm if you buy them from e-bay do you buy the pre-order or the whole game. I was thinking you pay only 5 bucks to preorder and the rest later?

Most likely pre-ordered a few in advance? SE's only started to show up around european stores for pre-order around february. Means though, that even if it's legit, it will take a while to get there. Are you sure you want to wait that long for an OST *that you could likely 'borrow' somewhere shortly after launch* and DLC that is 'free' but if you just bought it would have been cheaper then shipping?

LOL Reminds me of that  "X" box that dude was selling years ago. Good times. But yeah I would be a bit warry, It should play, now if its say a German version of the game I doubt your system could translate it into english, so hope if you didn't get ripped its a UK version.

Unless you bought a XBOX 360 "vesion" for your PC, it shouldn't have any problems. I don't remember any PC games mentioning PAL or NTSC since those are norms for television, not computer screen.

The same way dozens of people on the forum say they have the Signature Edition when they mean they've ordered a copy. Or people say they own Dragon Age: Origins when they mean they've bought a license for the software.

Don't forget that the release date of the DA2 is later for Europe than it is for America (I'm amusing that's where you are), so it likely won't even ship until March 11th (the EU release date). Then you have to wait for it to travel overseas. But the fact that you're paying $50 for the SE is a good deal, so long as the shipping's reasonable.

Also, you paid with PayPal right? Because that will make sure that, even if you do get cheated, you'll at least be able to get you money back... eventually.

Yeah I paid with PayPal. I'm not too worried about getting screwed though, the guy has a ton of feedback and almost 100% positive.

PC games don't even have PAL or NTSC standards. I'd be wary of the description, it sounds like it might be a console version mislabelled as PC.

They actually do ! I mean, only EA, only in France, only on Steam, and only with some games, because of some weird interpretation of a French law (well, supposedly, since EA never officially comments on this French region-ban, although I've mailed them and asked on the forums several times). The funny thing is that they allow those same games on French Xbox and PS3, which makes their argument invalid. My last post on EA's forums (kind of shows how bad they are at communicating next to Bioware for instance) :

"The persona I've been writing with so far has been banned, which is why I'm PMing you with my other one.
A few weeks ago, I asked a simple question (not a complaint) about the reasons for DeathSpank and Shank's respective Steam versions not being released in my country. To my surprise, the post was deleted ; no warning of any kind. I assumed it was a bug. So I asked the question again. Post got deleted a few days later, still no warning. I decided to ask my question, which, I still believe, was perfectly ordinary and legitimate, one last time. I also asked why my other posts had been deleted. Now I see that I'm banned, again without any kind of warning.
Can I please ask you to finally tell me what was wrong with my question in the first place, and why you're going as far as to ban me ? I know this is your forum but it seems to me that this is most irregular and inconsiderate. I admit my last post, though polite, was somewhat confrontational, but I thought it was the only way to maybe get a moderator to answer me and tell me why my other posts have been deleted in the first place ; instead, I get a ban. Now I somehow fear that instead of answering, you'll just ban this persona as well. I sincerely hope you won't do that, or my esteem for EA will sink at the lowest. A lot of people come here to troll, and their messages don't get erased. I came to ask a simple question about a game of yours I wanted to play, and you've behaved most strangely. Now maybe I got it all wrong but if you keep deleting my posts/banning me instead of taking one minute to tell me what you believe is wrong with my attitude, I don't see how I could possibly change it."

I'm still waiting for an answer, been a few months now.
