80% Maleshep players to 20% Femshep players...easy decision for Bioware

I think this is a good point, however . . .it strikes me that if BW would produce a 'limited quantity" or special edition cover with a FemShep, there would be significant sales.  Isn't 20% a lot when you're talking about millions?  Also, I wouldn't be shocked if a FemShep cover would have more than this hypothetical 20% because you would pick up extra female gamers, PLUS, many of us male players that started with canon male shep have been won over by the VA of Hales (i know that I am more immersed with FemShep than Male Shep because of her skills).
At the end of the day, I'd be curious from others that know more than me if the costs associated with producing a limited quantity (say 20%) would be offset by the additional (above 20%) games?  Probably not, since most of the preexisting 20% Femsheps will buy the game regardless.  It has my vote, though.  Like I mentioned, Hale has really won me over.

I swear to God I saw a promotional image for ME3 that had FemShep looking out the observation window at the burning Earth in place of Sheploo. I remember very clearly because I was so surprised to see a CG image of FemShep (even if only from the back) that I had to go back and rewatch the trailer to make sure it was different.

I have yet to be able to find the image again, however.

Pretty sure there is no canon Shepard.

It's like in Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter- Tolkien and Rowling created the canon material. What fans do with the material, or change, isn't canon.

The people at BioWare created Sheploo and femShep. They created multiple backgrounds and choices. There is no right choice. There, essentially, is no canon (either that or it's all canon) material.

There are default settings but that is something else entirely.

As far as the cover goes...incorporating both would be neat. Promoting femShep even a little bit would be wonderful. I just don't see it happening.

ummm there IS a canon, Bioware has stated this and if there wasn't you would have the ability to have any of the books or comics written. they are just letting you decide on those choices not because there is no canon but so that the game isn't just a platformer.

I personally like the generic 'N7' cover, or something similar.  No Shepard at all.

This to me begs to be ****ed about by mob rule, just like Mass Effect 2's box art.

This whole FemShep Vs ManShep issue to me is redundant. My main Shepard is female Renegade, everyone has their favorite. What I would like to see honestly is a single amazingly polished FemShep CG trailer for ME3. Then from there all FemShep fans can be forever satisfied, at least until there is something else to whine about.

I would support the whole Pro-FemShep group as well if I didn't feel the entire mob wouldn't pull a "If you give a mouse a cookie" when finally rewarded.Image IPB

OP has something going, but it won't happen. The default canon Shepard is Mark Vanderloo's Shep i.e. Sheploo *smirks* it hasn't happened for ME1 & 2 and it won't happen for 3. Besides, there is no 'default' femshep model that you'd actually want to have on your cover is there. Jane Shepard naturally looks like a beast and I have to edit her face for my femshep. Jane is just, meh. Vanderloo is hot. Hot stuff. So expect to see him again on the cover of ME3. As for femshep? Yeah, we're all up for it but it isn't going to happen. Sheploo is the poster-boy for ME. The N7 cover for the ME2:CE was a good idea, worked well but as for the regular covers we'll see maleshep.

*Runs into car and drives away before being torn to shreds by fem-shep fans*

MALE SHEPARD = Vanderloo = DEFAULT SHEPARD = MAIN CHARACTER (COVER/TITLE/COMMERCIALS/DEFAULT) = he will be the person on the cover, and not the non-default/customizable female shepard.

While perfectly true, it is in no way a reason not to include Jane Shepard on the back of the cover or on the "tin case" of the Collector's Edition. It's really only a matter of whether BioWare WANTS to do it.

if it wasn't done for mass effect 1, and mass effect 2 likely not for mass effect 3.

BioWare has explicitly stated multiple times that THERE IS NO CANON SHEPARD and the books go out of their way to mention Shepard in name and major accomplishments only (ie: was a Spectre, fought the Geth, defeated Saren, defeated the Collectors) and never mention Shepard's gender or background or any optional decisions.

Don't argue a point when you don't know what you're talking about.

Exactly. In fact, not too long ago I remember a developer (I think it was Jesse Houston) saying the only thing that is canon is what YOU did.

There are some canon things about Shepard (i.e., they died in the Collector Ship attack on the Normandy, they became a Spectre, the worked for Cerberus, etc.) but appearance/gender/history/decisions isn't one of them.

FemShep was on the back of the cover for ME1.  Also, if the special edition items are meh and I have to look at Loo's mug on the SE cover, I'll save some money and not buy the SE.  If the SE items are meh but FemShep is on the cover, I'm buying.  :P

I believe both default Shepards 'John' and 'Jane' should be on cover. That would be fair.

Then better no Shepard at all and something artistic on the cover like the ME2 collector edition which was fine. again no-politically correct solutions!!!

Because in ME1 and ME2 DudeShep. was always on the cover with no FemShep. Now a lot of FemShep supporters think that this is not fair and want to change it. Even though everyone know that DudeShep is in a way or another the "main" Shep......then better no Shep at all....everyone is UNhappy and finally we will finish with all this fanatic feminism of many (not all)FemShep supporters
