But if either happend I would be really impressed! I dont see why its so difficult to do and the fact these types of threads do crop up quite regularly says something too. Oh and even Journalists are a fan of getting femshep on the cover.

The argument that "well, the majority of people who play Mass Effect play as a male Shepard" is irrelevant too, as well as being self-fulfilling. How many "girl gamers" would be encouraged to give the game a chance if they happened to notice a strong female character on the cover (not the overly-sexualized fanservice that passes for "feminine" in most games), and how many "girl gamers" don't give the game a chance because they walk passed it at the store and just think "Oh look, another ho hum space marine shooter with a meat-headed 'Marcus Fenix' for a main character. Pass!"?
This is ridiculous...so what Bioware now is obliged to change the cover (and the traditional marketing aspects) only to satisfy the minority of the gamers???? I'm bored of this politcal driven sentiments of equality on the game industries(if those girls you mentioned are not enough intelligent to go beyond the cover it is their problem)...please let politics(feminism) OUT of games. However if it is an additional cover to the dudeShepard one i don't mind as long as we have the option to switch cover......but IMHO an artistic and elaborate cover without Shep is the best solution

Hell, I know plenty of men who are ho-hum when they see the cover.

As far as I can see you're the only person getting all worked up about politics, fans requesting FemShep is about as "Feministic" as fans requesting ManShep is chauvinist. People want their Shepard represented, not glorified.

why not just make a digital cover that lets you plug into your ME saves and adjusts the cover according to your decisions in the games?
I would pay good money for this. I believe it was suggested in a few threads discussing what people wanted for their Special Edition.

The point is, it's a bit self-fulfilling to say "Why bother marketing to girl gamers when men make up the majority?" because of course men are going to make up the majority when they're the ones being marketed to! Perhaps if more developers actually advertised with girl gamers in mind instead of just dismissing them as irrelevant, girls would make up a greater percentage of the market.
This has nothing to do with feminism or political correctness. It's common sense.

Well that's one way to cop out, but yes, I'm sure regardless of the unending moaning and nit picking of this forum about 99% of the board members will be buying the third game.

Funny, I guess the same statement applies to men that wouldn't like a female on their cover...which is a big reason why there is a male on the cover in the first place.
I think people (women and even some men) tire of the default hero in games/movies/TV shows, etc being male. Why is it that women aren't 'good enough' or whatever for these roles? If that's feminism, then sign me up!
Oh wait, I'm already a feminist..then sign me up twice!

This critic is fun because i have not demanded to change something that was originally set in a determinate way(DudeShepard) but apparently you want to change it. If ME1 canon-protagonist was a female i certainly would have played the game and continued throughout ME2 and ME3(expecting Femshep on the cover) but this was not the case as "main" Shep was a dude. So you demand to change a marketing aspect at the end of a triology that was set in a determinate way....it's slightly different..and BTW .i have no problem in playing games with strong female protagonists(examples FF13) if the original concept WAS to have a female hero...as a fan i dislike changes at the end....that's it

He is a generic character for the lazy who cant make or are not creative enough to make there own face. The entire premise of the series is impact the game universe and import this created universe across games. This concept invlaidates the canon idea.
This is not a game based on a book, this is not a game set within a universe that requires continity, this is a video game based on a fluid changing backstory based on player action. Please try and understand this before releasing another ignorant post into the universe.
As for the box, who cares? He is a familiar place holder until you make your real Shepered. Although the holographic idea is pretty sweet.

Sheploo isn't the omnipresent Shep for all of us. The "true" Shep isn't the same to each one. You are trying impose your vision of YOUR Shep and not understand our position. You need more empathy.

Updated my post. I guess a shadowy figure purposefully made generic in a marketing vid whose purpose is as a recognizable placeholder. Still not even thinnly enough to be considered proof of cannon.
