I have been through the OC a couple times now, and am trying a new venue for me - warlock. I see that they can already wear light armor, and with a feat (or starting as a fighter or cleric or some such) can gain medium armor and take Battlecaster, to avoid penalties. So, I think I would like to try a melee warlock. I went through as a melee rogue/bard, and that was great fun. I have a few questions, though.
I have tried to find something on Warlock/Divine Champion. I cannot find a thing. Is this a bad strategy for some reason? Again, I want to be a melee warlock, so, please, don't post a reply advising me to go to a different path. Even if it's the greatest, and the game was designed around a warlock doing X.... treat me as insane, if necessary, but please advise why Warlock/Divine Champion gets no press.
Were I to go a different route, what would you advise? Warlock/Fighter? Warlock/Barbarian? Warlock/Cleric? Start as Fighter, Cleric or Barbarian, to get the Medium Armor for free? But if so, how many levels in each?
Thanks in advance for any positive advise!

First, I suggest to download Warlock's Buddy from here:
http://nwvault.ign.c...l.Detail&id=249
It makes buffing less tedious and Hideous Blow viable.
I've made a couple melee Warlocks lately (at lower levels though, they lose some usefulness with levels). You can go pure, but your AB won't be great.
Personally, I use to take about 6 Warlock levels for the most important buffs (I love Flee the Scene, it's like Persistent Haste, 11-12 levels before), and then focus on melee classes. Hideous Blow will add some magic damage to attacks, but not that much. With 8 levels you can get a damage improving invocation.
Once you have access to high magic items and long duration Haste, it loses some power, and more classic Warlocks start to get better.
I played a Warlock/Blackguard through Mysteries of Westgate (not finished, intended to end as Warlock 6/Fighter 2/ Blackguard 7) and it did pretty well. Free Haste, double CHA bonus to saves, and a powerful undead pet. I also took Feint and Beguiling Influence for a +6 bonus to Bluff.

Also, you don't need to start as Fighter or whatever to get proficiencies. You'll gain them when you take the first level in that class, but that can be done at any time.

If you're really keen on that idea, you should probably get Kaedrin's class pack mod and pick the Eldiritch Glaive invocation. Channels your power into a weapon-like shape that you can use in melee and attack foes using melee touch attacks (which means in practice that enemies are far easier to hit then normal, as you ignore their armor, shield and natural AC).

True, I was thinking of the vanilla game, but Kaedrin's makes melee Warlocks much better. It also adds some PrCs that progress Eldritch Blast damage and/or invocations.

Thank you both!
Do you load Kaedrin and Warlock Buddy together, or are they separate mods? And are they mods of the OC, or separate games entirely?

AFAIK, you can install both (providing the module is compatible).
They're add-ons, not modules with different quests and storylines. They can be used in the OC.

I'm not sure that they will play nice together without a merged 2da, since they are both class packs. There might be such a version out there, though. One thing I did also spot was this Combined Works, though it looks to make some design decisions that you might not agree with.

Thanks both. I had forgotten what a great game it was (more of an EQ/MMORPG type, myself,) and what a great community is also behind it.

@The Fred: The link of the Warlock Buddy is a class pack (the original is outdated), but you can download the stand alone Buddy. I've never tried that class pack, actually. The Warlock Buddy modifies the UI folder, and I believe that doesn't conflict with Kaedrin's.
