Didn't even know this game was PC. I dropped by today to reserve it and he said. Xbox or PS3? I said PC, he said I don't think it's coming out for that. I just kind of grinned and said hmmm could you check anyway I swear I heard it was. Newb

Why be suprised? Not like they train employees at gamestop to know their info. Just warm bodies to fill an hourly position that maybe play some games on the side right.

Those darn kids, not like in the good old days. In my store there were about 4 reservations for console and 10 for pc. Yay my store.

At my local Gamestop I asked if they were getting the CE of DA:O, he started clicking on his computer, 2 minutes later he says "Sorry,we don't have any."

I said "okay." and just left. Newb.

At my Gamestop, i went in to pre order and the guy said i should just get Assassins Creed 2, because it was clearly superior to Dragon Age in every way.

I had the same thing happen to me, but the reason behind it was that they discontinued selling the CE over a month ago. They aren't even listed on the Gamestop website.

That might be because GameStop sold out of the Collectors Edition preorders weeks ago...

Regardless, it just depends on your location. Some stores have great, knowledgeable employees, others don't. Alas.

They didn't discontinue it, they sold out. EB & Gamestop both sold out across the continent some time ago.

My local gamestop does not carry PC games. You must have them order it specifically for you ahead of time. I went in there for a PC game a while back and the only one they had was Halo because someone ordered it and failed to pick it up. It could be different now, but I haven't been back since.

Hmm, I have always wondered how you can sell out of a game that has yet to go Gold or be pressed.... do they have a limit and some database that keeps track of them?

Yeah it's sold out but I've never bought a collectors edition for something that will cost $20 bucks in 2 years. I probably won't even be able to locate my copy by then as quickly as this entertainment venue changes.

Riiight. He knows all about games, that's why he works in a gamestop.

They have a limit, in a database. Each store is limited to a set amount, and once all the stores reach their quota or the overall limit is reached, poof.

This is why I buy my games at Amazon from now on.
The last straw for me was when I ordered Persona 4 months before the release date and they charged me the full price for it, and I was like: "WTF are you charging me the difference for?" Amazon doesn't do that to me. :)

Other than that, the employees at the one store I go to have been very helpful, but they always try to screw me over re: pricing.

I stopped going to Gamestop after the guy there ripped me off when I sold him like thirty PS2 games.

You go to a game store these days and the PC shelf looks like the gum rack at Wal-Mart next to the register. The walls in the place are covered up with console though.

Hmm, glad I ordered mine online for instore pickup then. Originally, I was just gonna walk in expecting them to have pc versions in stock.

That really sucks. You would think that they have a cutoff date and then ramp up manufacturing in time to meet the order. That would make more business sense to me. But oh well I don't run EA publishing...

Had to get my CE from the EA store and still pre-ordered from Gamecrazy so that I can do the midnight launch and not waste my two days of vacation I took to play.

My gamestop does no longer allow pre-ordering CE's because they have no idea how many they are getting until they get them, so they can not have sold them out.  This other time, my friends and I went into the store, one of my friends (who is short, like very) asks for a Pegi 12+ game, and this same dude as earlier today says he can't buy it because you have to be 12+, the only thing is all of us were 15+, but he still demanded an ID from my friend-.- 2 of the 3 guys ( And 1 of those 2 let us buy 16+ games.) who work there are atleast nice who you can actually have sane conversations with.

Because getting hired to do a job shouldn't require even the slightest amount of knowledge about the job and its surrounding influences. Right. Got it.

On a whim I asked the guy at gamestop if they had any used copies of Planescape around and he said "what system?" followed by "is that a FPS?"

He was about my age. There should be a game-knowledge test given to all employees at gaming stores.
