Gamestop is definitely one of the biggest factors that's driving many people to download their games, rather than buy them hard copy =/ Console or otherwise, imo. They're such rip-offs, it's dumbfounding... And I used to work there >..< So glad I quit.
lmao, 7 dollars? it must have been a bunch of crap games, old games, or old games for an old system. i got 73 dollars for 3 games i traded in a month or so ago...because they were still new(er).
It was about 25 games, mixed PS2 and original XBOX, all in good condition, all released in the past 3 years or so (I looked on the boxes, not like I'd have that info memorized). You'd think he'd get at least a buck a game, y'know? I thought his dad was gonna yank me over the counter and start punching me @.@ Even the employee at the register next to me looked upset... Friggin' stupid Gamestop trade-in rates.....
Supply and demand. The customer wants to sell the game, the store doesn't necessarily WANT the game. When the prices are low that means the resell price is low. That means they may not even sell the dang thing. So whatever they gave you for that game they end up losing 100% of if the game never even leaves the store.
For instance, someone comes into my store and wants to sell Madden 09 for PS3. They get maybe $3 for it, MAYBE. They get mad and demand to know why. I tell them, "Because they make a new one every year and if I open this drawer I can show you 30 copies of the exact same game that more than likely will never leave this store because they all want Madden 10."
Whereas Pokemon Emerald for the GBA, we still give $20 for (Just did it the other day) because it will sell within the next week, even though that game is over 5 years old.
