2.Boring

From a story perspective, starting out with a relatively calm and normal beginning makes the exciting parts seem more exciting. Ever hear of "contrast"?

and that's fine,
I just don't want my mom loving me the whole course of the game.

There were definetely more rude options, though I can't remember them right now.

none were rude,

You can say something Rudley coy about her friend, but that's about it.

I highly doubt that's going to happen. She has "plot death" written all over her face. Also, have you seen the demo videos? There were absolutely no "I love you, son" moments.

And i like that,
Which is why a cite drunken mean Dwarvern commoner mom earlier.
But even so i don't like having predetermined character backrounds in RPGs and would like the option to kill her off early if i choose to do so.

And that's why i'd like the option to have her die early on,
More power to the player.

Yes, but that power only goes as far as the story will let it. Seeing as Leandra Hawke serves a purpose in the story and the mechanics of the game (giving you messages and such) I highly doubt there'll be an oppurtunity for her to die until very late in the game. Additionally, if there is such an option, there's no way in heck it'll be an option for Hawke to murder his mother. It may be a choice between her and someone else living, but you're not gonna be able to take a knife to her throat.

1.That dosen't sound intregal though, Not like She's a secret king or nothing, It seems like varric could fufill that role if she dies.

2.Misunderstanding here, I don't wanna physically kill her with hawkes hands. I simply want to be able to kill  her off. Maybe by a falling boulder or what not.

3.Come to think of it i'd be happy if  she just left kirkwall and wrote me letters from time to time.

She could be very different from the cousland mom I can see how her haveing the same voice actor makes it hard though.

the "family dynamic" which Bioware keeps mentioning is what worries me about her overly assertive motherhood.

I know my mom is my mom, i don't need her saying "Omg my pretty son, i love you so much" before i take my trip to the john.

What evidence do you have that she will be like this? Also, there's a bathroom in the game? Is it like the one on the Normandy that I didn't find until my third playthrough?

There's a bathroom on the Normandy? WHERE?

I want her to die or leave kirkwall, Or not have to see her.

If that involves hurting her feelings, I'll do it.

eh, no. I like having a family who love me. I liked mom and dad Cousland when I was playing human noble origin, actually I think it was one of my favourite origins. I'm very fond of my family in real life and currently away from them for years, so l don't get irritated from having loving mother in RPG.

She doesn't. She blames you for your sibling's death.

I'm exactly the opposite. I loved Eleanor Cousland to bits (being a badass action mom while still being loving and caring is no easy feat). I hope Leandra survives through the whole game and is important to the plot. I doubt even my most evil of characters will be able to kill her, Bethany or Carver off, I'd just feel too cold hearted.

It would be nice if Bethany and Carver had interactions with her. It's not every day that you get to see a mother (or more importantly, the protagonists mother) play a major role in a video game. It's just a shame that dad is dead. :(

Man, you have no idea how much it bugged me that I didn't find that stupid bathroom in like..I think it was my fourth or fifth that I saw it in somebody's youtube video and I freaked out...stupid private bathroom..Posted Image

Anyway, I think the OP is taking the negative a bit far on the family interaction.  I felt kind of bad that the noble character had his family butchered right out from under him in the first 15 minutes of the game; actually having your family with you is, for me anyway, a nice change.  I like a human side to my heroes rather than the orphan with not a care in the world.  One of my favorite parts of NWN 2 is finding out that Daeghun is out looking for you after the battle with the...what was his name?  Shadowbroker?  Ah!  King of Shadows..sorry.  Sometimes the simple human connection of a family member in a game can really make the story hit home.  So, no, I'm looking forward to having Hawke's mom along.

And I don't mean 9 years in,I mean immediatley after i hear her voice.

I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE Eleanor Cousland(likley voice actor of momma hawke), No character has ever been more cheesy to me. I want the option to feed her to a cougar,  Fuel her blood to merril in order to ressurect my fallen sibling, Or even use her skull as a hat to symbolize adulthood like the pokemon cubone.

Ok maybe all that's going a bit far....But i really don't wanna hear "I LUVZ YA SON, PLEASE BE CAREFUL KILLING DRAGONZ"

Anyone else hate having a mom in a RPG?

So you would murder someone because you don't like their voice.... Stay classy<_<
