Per the second issue of Evolution, the Arca Monolith, a Reaper artifact on Shanxi, affected both TIM and a teammate. That pretty much sets the stage for the whole Illusive Man Works for the Reapers plotline. Great.

Not so fast

Indoctrination appears to be only possible in close vicinity of a Reaper. This means that Sovereign or any other Reaper would have to have been "in person" or close enough to use his influence to dominate someone's mind. Benezia was on board. Sovereign came to the Geth and subdued the Heretics.

Like Shepard, Jack Harper is exposed to Reaper technology and survives without being transformed into a husk.

That might be why the Reapers have chosen humanity in the first place - a pair of humans encountered their
technology and one maintained his sentience and was upgraded by it without being transformed. Saren looked into it with other turian scientists and eventually was pissed that the turians immediately succumbed to it but humans were capable of withstanding it and being empowered by it, God forbid.

That created the jealousy that led to him seeking Shu Qian's reserach, finding Sovereign, and starting ME's events.

What that could mean is that humanity is the most dangerous opponent the Reapers have ever faced because their technology improves the best of  them without destroying their minds. They have dealt with weaker minds
before - the Rachni were corrupted, sicced on the Citadel races and wiped out. The Collectors gave the Salarians the sterility tech for the Krogan. Once Shanxi happened, the information about the newcomers was shocking and terrifying to the Reapers and that caused Sovereign to freak out and try to signal the Reaper fleet to return, even though it was too risky.

This also explains how TIM runs such a damn good operation - he has been exposed to what might have been an organics observation device and acquired collected information about every known race all at once, kinda like the Matrix with Neo learning kung fu, etc.

Interesting. If what you're saying is true, I wonder how the people who kept the Collector ship intact feel.

If TIM is indoctrinated why would he assemble a team to take down Collectors? Or why would he bring Shep back?

Note to OP. If Zulu is taking the mickey out of your conspiracy, it means it is well and truly, without a doubt, 100% lame.

Sheesh, I can't believe I actually agreed with something Zulu said.

I don't buy it. If the Reapers wanted TIM to have the Collector base, they would have just given it to him. The Collectors are "more like husks than slaves," anyway. No fight from them.

This is brilliant. I hope this is true just to see Miranda's face when she realizes TIM works for the Reaper. Genetically engineered to perfection my butt.

Nahh.
Got superior technology, got the backing of a proactive organisation and I've got the moral high ground.
I'm quite happy actually.

So I read the comic book but can't see where it says the artifact was Reaper.

If TIM's indoctrinated, why would he and the Shadow Broker be fighting over Shepard's corpse?

Ah well, I guess it does make my crazy theory that Shepard and his squad were never meant to come back from the Collector base alive sound less crazy.  Though the reasons changed somewhat.

Or you can just read it here. I find this synopsis to be much more "convenient" to read than the actual comic.

Ugh. I don't want this comic screwing up TIM or anything else. TIM is not Jack and not indoctrinated!

I'm not a fan of big plot developments the player misses unless he has read all of the books, comics, etc.

I think it would be disappointing if he was indoctrinated, if only because it would just make the universe smaller. Personally, I think it's kinda boring storytelling as well if everyone was either obviously a villain or obviously a hero, but maybe that's just me.

It only changes my motivation for wanting him dead. Shepard was woken up before he was "ready" so maybe that has something to do with how things went.
