Ok, I've fought in the main hall and talked with Ser Whatever. When I try to head to the appointed location, I discover that the main hall's door there is locked. The only other paths are blocked with fire. As I'm not a rogue, I don't have the means to unlock anything. So..

I've had this problem myself, the only thing you can do is select a reload from an earlier point.
