Yeah, can't wait to see mage spell trees as well, but if someone from Bioware would take a peek at this thread I'd like a question answered, now that we have 60 talents for every class (apart from specializations), and we have an achievement for reaching level 20, how many talent points are we gonna have in a single playthrough? not taking into account story related points, that means we have 20 points to spend on 60 talents?
It depends on the amount of side content you do and other sources of points. In my Nightmare playthrough, I ended up having 4 chains (both weapon chains and 2 specs) heavily invested on my player character.
Ah thanks for clearing that up.... I always do all side quests anyway, it seems Warriors and rogues are more like mages now, where they can't max out all their talents which is good, more variety in builds

So heres a question when you said 4 chains (think someone asked this too) that 40 points? or more like 25-30 and your missing some upgrades? Either way that beats a flat 20 at 20.

If I get the end Spell for Elemental, Primal and Spirit, I get +30 mana regen?? I don't know about DA:2 but in DA:O that would have had me dancing... I wish I knew exactly how many points it's possible to get... I There are odd ones from trees I want and whole trees I want... And I haven't even seen specialisations :'(

I'll ask a question as well, since companion comes already leveled with skills picked, will there be respec for both PC and companions?
Just the PC through the Black Emporium.
I know PC gets it through Emporium but has someone from Bioware actually said that companion will not have respec options at all? That makes me alittle sad, guess I'll have to try to get every companions ASAP.

I believe a developer made a vague comment that you can reallocate the talents of everyone via that method.Phoenixblight wrote...

Do our characters start out with a free talent/spell like in origins?
Yes, at least we do in the demo, I believe it was miasma flask for rogue and mind blast for mage, I can't remember what warrior starts out with though.

Well the answer was general to the question that was just specifically about the PC so the companions are not sure atm. But Companions do not have as much variety as Hawke so I doubt based on that they will have a resec option.

On the bright side, it looks like we could do that a lot sooner than in Origins (where as in Origins, it could take a while to get Zevran or Wynne and for freakin ever to get Oghren).
The only two companions I'm worried about are Fenris and Sebastian - we still don't know when/how they are recruited.

Mage looks awesome as well. Can you buy both upgrades to a talent? Or is it one or the other. For example, selecting both shattering & killing blow for might blow.
There are no exclusions. Nothing you buy will prevent you from buying something else.

I certainly hope we get more but the level cap they talked about is what's supported in-game not the max level you can reach, in the achievements there's an achievement for levels 10 and 20... so I'm thinking 20 is the max we can reach in one playthrough... if we get 1 point per level like Origins we'll be so restricted, or maybe the higher you go the more points you get, like from level 15 and above you get 2 points each level and so on... I certainly hope Peter or someone can clear this for us.
1 talent point per level. The idea behind having a lot of options is that you can play in different ways to suit your playstyle, or have multiple characters of the same class who don't feel like the same thing. You can also try playing again with a different build if you want.

For example I planned on having my Mage to be a bit demon power like, and thus wanted to have
Half of Elemental (fire ) and half of Primal (earth) the last power bonus for example for Rock Armor can only applied if I have tempest as well, which kind of ruins it for... as I planned to play another femhawke mage with Ice and Lightning....
I don't think this system, though I still prefer this way though, actually does justice to comment made by devs, that you choose a spell you want instead of to work down a spell line, to get the power you want... Though I understand restrictions. but those could simply be applied to level instead of a certan spell requirement (which basically was what it was like in origins)
(EDIT: to above between the (), I mean that this system is less different from origins then the devs let me think it was..)
anyhow, it looks indeed interesting and I know my warrior setup will be
Zweihander, Defender, Battlemaster and Reaver... which basically looks a bit similiar to my dual wield, guardian, reaver thing I had going on in awakening, now just give me a dragon tattoo like this :
http://www.dragonage...-1274997382.jpg
and I'm ready to recreate and play him

Yes that's good. So can you confirm that 20-something is the expected level for an endgame character -without DLC- ?

Anyways, I see that you definitely can max out two trees, or have 3 trees full of non-upgraded abilities. That's not too bad at all.
@Peter Thomas - can we expect, sometime, a deeper update on the magic system and how it works? For example, your remarks on elemental power damage (like spirit clutching the soul, and fire making you pat out flames, etc, and the resistances, and spirit damage going through a 100% shield) are, well, a bit confusing, implying a deeper system than what has been seen so far.

No Blood Magic? What a bummer.
Blood Mage is a specialization. The OP could only get his hands on the base talent trees because there are no specialization in the demo.

No Deft Hands talent for Rogue? Does that mean that lock picking is now a skill or is it now automatic if you have a rogue?
Lock picking is based on cunning alone.

It's automatic I think, but still depends on your cunning.
