No Deft Hands talent for Rogue? Does that mean that lock picking is now a skill or is it now automatic if you have a rogue?

There are no skills in DA2, its automatic now. Rogues = Lockpicking

Also, force field (50%) + its upgrade (+50%) means that it's again full immunity for 6 seconds, right?

50% growing by 50% is 75%

Alodar :)

No, the numbers add together. 100% resistance for 6s.

Keep in mind, though, that spirit damage will halve that.

Sorry for the mistake.
That however is wow.

Do our characters start out with a free talent/spell like in origins?

Yes, at least we do in the demo, I believe it was miasma flask for rogue and mind blast for mage, I can't remember what warrior starts out with though.

Pommel Strike.

That's great. Always hated that lockpicking tree was eating away precious talent points in DAO.

now that the skills have been revealed, can we ask what's your favorite skills per class?

Hm... not all have been revealed yet. And keep in mind these are based on my playstyle.

Warrior
    Taunt (critical to my playstyle)
    Bolster (incredibly useful)
Assault (probably because of an old bug where the 2nd hit did 10x the damage of the others...)
Reaver Passive 1 (because it's a passive now and awesome)
Rogue
Archer's Lance (upgraded; insta-kill line attack ftw)
Duelist Active 2 (very useful for characters who use both weapon styles)
Assassin Active 3 (most valuable skill for my kind of character)
Mage
Tempest (lightning spells don't do FF)
    Heal (healing is still important)
    Horror (non-resisted stun)
Anders Active 2 (very good for emergencies if I can keep him alive long enough...)

Are there different ways to get talent/spell points in DA2? It would really help my build out if I could buy tomes.

1st Attempt for a full Archer:
_____________
Archery: 10 Points
Full
Specialist: 6 Points
Main Talents and Precision Upgrades
Scoundrel: 3 Points
Blindside
Twist the Knife
Armistice
Sabotage: 4 Points
Miasmic Flask
Improved Formula
Confusion
Chaos
hm, 23 Points, not bad. Instead of Sabotage, i'm probably going to invest in "two weapon" talents and Back to Back Talent with upgrade. So at Level 25 i would have an Archer with Close Combat Abilities

Do we get more experience on harder level?

Difficulty doesn't affect XP. Finding hard, optional encounters will give you extra XP you wouldn't get otherwise, though.

Thank you.
By the way, I suppose the passive ability you like of Reaver is Bloody Frenzy, right?Image IPB

Any left over points in other chains? I'm debating investing about 5 points in one of the chains, but would prefer if my original four were fully maxed first.

Outside of those 4 chains, I think the only others my main had were Blindside and Miasmic Flask (because you start with it). I was pretty focused on damage and didn't get upgrades I didn't think were worth the investment.

i'd say it would be devour, gaining health for each kill or something.

Anders spazzes out and Vengeance takes over. Massively increased combat effectiveness at the cost of taking more damage, or maybe dwindling health. Calling it now.

I thought that too. But I remember that in a specialization thread he talked about how he liked Blood Frenzy. Tough for my type of playstyle Devour will be more useful.

Hoping it's Aura of Pimp..err I mean Pain, having a constant damage aura would be great AoE tool on a S&S warrior for drawing aggro.

4 chains? Excellent. I guess I can plan on picking up Primal as well. I would hate to miss lightning.

Augh I'm so confused now. First I thought I wanted to specialize in Elemental, now I wanna do Primal. How much stronger are fire spells when combined with Pyromancy, and Elemental Mastery?

yeah but since the ability we're talking about is passive i don't think they'd put one that would always sap your life away at all times.

+50%. 25 bonus percent from pyromancy, and 25 bonus percent from mastery.

Made a 25 point skill build for a DW Rogue who specializes in 1v1, particularly on bosses or enemies with more HP than your average mob.  It's pretty gimmicky, since it ignores specializations (I'll tweak it when I find information on the specs) and the potential of the cross-class combos.  Feel free to critique or throw some thoughts in.

Auto-Chain Build:
Dual Wield Tree:
-Unforgiving Chain
-Explosive Strike
-Merciless Strike

-Backstab (as a pre-req)
-Lacerate
-Maim
Total: 6 talent points

The italacized skills are the crux of the build.  This build is going to focus on building up auto-attacks (hence the bad build name I gave it).  The other skills like Fanged Blades and Backstab don't really go with this build as using those will cancel the chain.  The latter three don't have to be invested in; I just think it would help with DPS.

Sabotage Tree:

-Rush
-Charge

-Miasmic Flask  --> apparently that's a default point, so I won't have to worry about that.
-Improved Formula
-Fatiguing Fog
Total: 5 talent points

I italicized Rush and Charge because I believe mobility is an important part of the battle, especially when your AoE/CC isn't up to par (which your other party members should handle in your lieu).  Miasmic Flask and Fatiguing Fog are crowd control.

Specialist Tree:
-Speed
-Lightning Speed
-Energizing Speed
-Harmony

-Precision
-Power
Total: 6 talents

Because you're going to be using auto-attacks for the most part, the Speed skills work beautifully in building up DPS.  Precision and Power are required for Harmony.

Subterfuge Tree:

-Stealth
-Silent Running
-Camoflauge
-Ambush
-Lingering Shroud
-Evade
-Subtlety
Total: 7

Any of these are optional (well, you need the pre-reqs including Evade to grab Subtlety), but the reason why I chose Subtletly is due to the -25% threat generation.

Scoundrel Tree:

-Back to Back
-Followthrough
-Blindside  --> okay apparently you start with this as well.
-Twist the Knife
Total: 4

To me, this is the least important tree (well, not really.  I can just as easily replace Stealth and its upgrades with this.  The skills I've listed are all extremely potent skills.  I'd probably throw out Backstab, Lacerate and Maim and one other skill in favor of these 3 (going by the 25 talent point limit and that Blindside is available at the start).  Followthrough is probably the last in terms of importance of the four, seeing as how you're auto-attacking most of the time, so you're not going to be expending stamina at a rate as opposed to those who follow Backstab/Twin Fangs.

Total Listed: 28; several are discardable.  Without the Scoundrel tree, 23 (including the fact that Miasmic Flask is a default skill.  If I also choose to throw away Backstab, Lacerate and Maim, that leaves 20, leaving 5 to invest into specializations and anything I feel like.

Obviously if there are more points, then awesome.
Time to work on an archer and SnS build now

Hey man, if you're going for the demo again tomorrow, could you check if the specs are available or not?

Peter, are the Specializations available to unlock right from the start?

Or must we still unlock them through tomes, companions, quests, etc?

Can't comment on warriors and rogues, so I'll speak at mages.

1. About half of spells need upgrades to get back to Origins' level of power.

2. Requirements does not do "choosing what you want instead of following the chain" promise justice.

3. Combo-actions are impossible with one class? Even "Assassin mark"-lookalike does not give rogues additional damage? Mages don't do additional damage with Stone fist to Brittle enemies? That's some convoluted system.
