Hey Peter, if rogues start with Miasmic Flask, what do the other classes start with? I suspect it's Pommel Strike and Mind Blast, but correct me if I'm wrong.
He answered this already in this exact thread......

Hm.. Fair enough. Winter's blast works like the Battle Mage's version in Awakening right? Then I suppose I'll lower spirit strike 1 upgrade. To pick it up. Thanks.
You mean Hand's of Winter? I don't think so. There is no reason to have a cone when you have that overpowered spell. It looks like Winter's Blast is single target.
The advantage of Winter's Blast is that it has 100% Freeze/40% BRITTLE vs. 60% Freeze/20% BRITTLE for Deep Freeze. So the cone is no longer an instant freeze. Plus the Winter spells can be cast at a much larger distance.
True. Hmm looks like Carver or Fenris is going to have to be my main Warrior throughout the game. Good thing I get Carver automatically.

Wow. You guys really did a number on talents. You need to give a raise to whoever came up with it.
I agree.

Do our characters start out with a free talent/spell like in origins?
Yes, at least we do in the demo, I believe it was miasma flask for rogue and mind blast for mage, I can't remember what warrior starts out with though.
THe warrior starts out with Pommel strike.

Definitely. In Origins, I could essentially throw talents around without worrying too much about the repercussions of being careless. With this system however, I have spent a good hour debating between the various chains and still have not found a suitable build that I am happy with.
Not that this is a bad thing of course. =p

It has the same effect. THe Op played the demo and answered that question.

They've been seen in numerous demos. Pommel Strike, Miasmic Flask and Mind Blast.

Or will we need to unlock them through manuals, companions, quests, etc?

Huh. I didn't see anything for pick-pocketing, picking locks or any of that stuff for rogues... It must be on a different skill menu.
There are no skills. Its automatic based on cunning with a rogue.
