For persistant AoE effects, if you walk inside, you get the effect. Magic Resistance decreases damage and effect duration. Since there is no duration (you're in the cloud, so it's on) you'll get the full effect for as long as you remain in the cloud. Friendly fire does apply to that AoE on Nightmare.

The spell description states that it affects enemies. Will it still affect the mage who cast it?

Except in specific cases, yes, it would affect the caster. In general the ones that won't affect the caster are ones that you imagine the caster is consciously controlling something, or picking targets. In DAO, Blood Wound could be an example of this. You consciously choose whose blood to rip out of their body, so why hurt your friends? That's the thinking that went into it.

That makes sense.
One more question does the cloud move with the target or is it stationary depending on where the target orifinally was?

Thanks!

Entropic Cloud is attached to the target.

Will we be able to reset our ability choices, or attribute choices, in any way for ourselves or our companions?

I thought that was to reset your appearance?

Oh, you're right.  I've heard you can change them, though.  I guess I just assumed it was the mirror.

Someone asked if you could change your abilities.  Then asked as a seperate question in the same post if you could do it for the companions.  A developer responded with a simple yes, implying both.  Some reason I attached that idea to the mirror.

Peter, I'm really, really curious about something. If the talents listed here are more recent than the demo build, than I have to say some of the cooldowns seems excessively long on the mage abilities (I specify mage because I know them the best). A 20 second cooldown on Winter's Grasp, for example, when we can get it so early seems a bit long in my opinion. There are other spells as well. Fifteen I might have understood, but 20 seems long for a starting ability, especially when basic attacks don't do a whole lot of damage.

I haven't played the final game-maybe it works great. But I'm curious as to what the rationale was on the cooldowns being so long (or short in some cases). And, of course, the fact that they reset is awesome and alleviates the problem for short encounters. The problem is that you're often mobbed my enemies in waves.

Enlighten me?

The basis for combat is that a two-handed weapon should kill a critter rank hurlock in ~4.2 hits. That's how enemy health and weapon damage is related.

The basis for ability damage is that 20 stamina/mana with a cooldown of 20 seconds will kill an equal level critter in one shot. Add secondary effects, damage goes down if the cost is the same. Increase damage, cost or cooldown goes up. Others had their cost/cooldown set to something for very specific reasons (I'm guessing Heal is one of your concerns; that one was balance; I wanted 60s) like Healing Aura and Blood Magic. Why use 20/20? It felt decent. Too fast cooldowns and abilities are spammed constantly. Too low cost and stamina/mana is no longer a limiting factor. As you play, if you use abilities on everything, you'll find they're always in cooldown and never there when you need them. With certain exceptions (Tempest), I generally didn't use my abilities on critters at all. I saved them to combine on the larger creatures that can pop up in the middle of waves.

Oh, and the after combat cooldown reset doesn't happen in Nightmare.

Image IPBImage IPBFair enough.  I guess I was used to Origins' more generous cooldowns.  To be honest, even with the ten second cooldowns, I was often playing the way you described, saving my spells for the enemies with the big life bars.  Thank you for answering.

Anybody know or have an idea what the frontal cone degree is for warrior attacks, both 1H and 2H? In the demo it seems the W&S warrior could at best hit 2 targets assuming your positioning was absolutely perfect. Kinda wish there was a backpedal feature so I can always be facing my opponents while backing up.

The AoE on 2handers changes based on talents, so its something like 35 degrees to 50-60 degrees after the upgrade, and after the upgrade it hits further opponents as well.

Two-Handed Weapon is the front 140 degrees. Weapon and Shield is the front 80 degrees.

Does giants reach increase the amount of degrees for a 2 hander cone, or only the amount of reach?

Well before I had Giants Reach my Slamming blow (or w/e its called) only hit 1 target (or 2 if the were REALLY close) but after i got Giants Reach, BAM i could hit 3 or 4 in front of me. So im guessing it does affect the Degree of the cone of attack.

It doesn't affect angle, only distance.

For auras that give bonuses like +10% attack, does that come out to +10% vs normal, +5% vs leiutenants, +2.5% vs bosses?

I think it adds 10% to the BASE amount which = vs. normal, then a modifier on the base amount is what effects Lts and Bosses, but im not sure its a straight conversion like each rank is 0.5 the previous.

Is there any indication what the modifer is? In the demo, it didnt seem to effect attack % vs leiutenants or bosses at all (heroic aura).

Oh, for some reason, the demo heroic aura didnt update your character sheet to reflect this vs leiutenants and bosses although it did seem to add 7% vs normal (instead of 15%). Was this bug fixed for the release version?

Also, do enemies have any attacks which ignore your defenses completely and always hit? Does defense% work for melee only or does it effect ranged and magic as well. Is there a cap on defense%? Thanks for the answers Peter!

Another question, how does elemental weapons work and what kind of benefit can you expect? The description is extremely vague.

So here's a question... if 2 warriors are using Rally, but different sustained abilities, do all allies receive the bonus of each sustain? Or does the first Rally simply cancel the second completely until it wears off? I realize they won't get double the mana/stamina bonus, but how about sustained effects?
