I'm loving the mage talents so far but is there no more info on any of the specs yet?

Not that this particular bit of information is new, but I am disappointed fire and ice were paired together. I was hoping to go for an ice/earth build or at least master ice with my character. The problem with this layout is it forces me to master fire or lightning to get that last boosting talent. I would have preferred if each element had its own mastery capstone. Not a huge deal, though. Looks like I will be dropping four points to pick up and upgrade the two ice spells, then see what arcane and creation has to offer.

On the bright side my mage is going to make an excellent team with Isabela with all the brittle effects being thrown around.

Hmm.. Death Vortex looks like it might be good for blood mages. Also I'm definetly picking up Walking bomb.
I guess I'll be specializing in spirit element. That tree seems the most useful to me. Sorry Elemental tree.

Don't all of the videos and interviews with Mike Laidlaw have him saying how bad it was in Origins that if you wanted one skill you had to put points in the other skills to get it?

Is it any different?

The spirit tree is much more tempting. It looks like transmutation replaced mana clash. I like that dispel is off in its own corner too. That makes it easy for any mage to take. I will probably pick those up. :P Walking bomb spells look as fun as ever. :D

If you want to master the elemental tree you must be versed in all elements.
What Mike meant was that now you don't have to take  Frost Weapon, and Fire Weapon if you want to get to Fireball and Cone of Cold. Also the upgrades of a  spell don't impeded your ability to continue down the path.

Hmm, I really don't like the spirit tree..

So far, looks like I'm going to go Primal - a 15-second paralyze skill (petrify) that works on "all monsters" is quite good. And lightning seems to be quite neat. And stonefist, and rock armour.

Then again, I always liked Ice spells in origins (can't stand fire ones, though).

Uhm, I hope the other trees will be better, actually. So far, not truly sold on any of these.

I'm just waiting to see Entropy. I imagine we'll get only a single curse, but it'll have a couple of improvements.

Also, this doesn't include character specific trees. Doesn't each character get their own unique tree like Isabella's Swashbuckler? Has it been confirmed Hawke gets his own unique tree for the three classes too? IMO, would seem kinda weird everyone but the champion gets his own unique tree.

Hawke gets specializations.

Well, I was on the fence about being a mage or rogue on the first playthrough. Decided now - mage baby.

Yes but doesn't the other characters too? Or do they only get their unique tree and no choice of specialization?

The OP didn't have access to specialization trees, that's why there's no info on them.

The arcane tree is badass. Lots of juicy crowd control and some buffing. It looks like force field cheese is gone now. I like that elemental weapons works off of the currently equipped staff. Also like arcane wall. Favorite tree so far. A bit redundant and narrowly focused, but useful...

Many thanks TC. I've been drooling over these talents and spell descriptions for the last half hour :P

Sweet Zombie Jesus, why do warriors seem so awesome this time around? I can hardly wait for my 2nd playthrough with a 2 hander. But first I have to worry about my first playthrough with my Archer. So many things to choose from in the general Rogue trees, I'm having a really tough time deciding what I should invest in. So many choices. Oh, how I love this part of waiting for a Dragon Age game to release ^,^

Oh wow.. Arcane tree only has one damage spell... Ouch. Okay, the elemental weapon buff might be really good, I might nick that one.. A fully upgraded mind blast would be neat, but overall this is an extremely support-oriented tree. Probably something for Merill/Anders/Bethany to dip in, imo.

Also, force field (50%) + its upgrade (+50%) means that it's again full immunity for 6 seconds, right?

Awesome. The only thing that worries me is flasks put into talent form. Does that mean we won't get to use grenades anymore..?

Hey now. Some of like playing support oriented casters! :pinched: I like that they seem to have separated buffs from healing somewhat. It gives one the option of playing a party friendly mage without necessarily being the group medic.

Yeah it is a pretty defensive tree. But Paralyzing Prison makes a good attack spell. 87 physical damage over 10 seconds, with a chance of paralysis is nothing to sneeze at.
