Oh, and that "ridiculous huge sword" has the same model as Yusaris from DAO, it's not anything new

It's actually not a bad screenshot. And I kind of like the brown. Origins was too green and lively (Korkari Wilds, Brecilian Forrest), too contrasted. I think those new landscapes have a darker, more realistic look.

How are green forests not realistic? Our planet is full of mind-blowing diversity, why shouldn't Thedas be?

Look at the bright side. At least it won't make some PCs(like mine) catch in fire while playing on High!

So DA:O was one of your favourite games for the graphics?
Come on, it's a bit too obvious, be more sneaky and subtle next time. :)

Go play Crysis if you want system-crippling graphics.

Bugs me that we as a people love to stick labels on things i.e graphics are secondary!! umm no graphics are just as important as anything else, a game like a film can be destroyed with bad visuals we live in an age where multiple elements combined are what makes an excellent product and one inferior element can cause problems.

i guess most people don't mean it in that way, it's more "rpg games don't necessarily need uber-realistic dazzling graphics", which i believe is true.
and i also don't think the graphic's hideous by any stretch.

you're okay, you're just not using a sniper's scope from 10 cm away from the monitor like some people seem to be doing.

Lol they are doing it wrong then. Sniping is done from distance.

they do it so they can spot any pixel out of place with a fine tooth comb.
can't say that it sounds fun either.

Wikipedia can describe the OP much better than I can.

Anal Retentive

The term anal retentive (also anally retentive), commonly abbreviated to anal, is used conversationally to describe a person who pays such attention to detail that the obsession becomes an annoyance to others, and can be carried out to the detriment of the anal-retentive person. The term derives from Freudian psychoanalysis.

Again, why do some thread starters never return to discuss the crap they posted? Regardless, if they are trolls or not.

Because most of the times, they are trolls.

Yep it is trolling.

Troll /thread

So, do you folks have anything 'constructive' to add to the topic, or are you 'trolling' in a discriminative manner because you hate other people's opinions or criticisms? If you folks cannot handle another person's opinion, do not bother going to college for anything. Critiques are a way of life. You either embrace a diverse world, or you folks should move to the moon.

What do you folks have to contribute?

I have no problem with the graphics.

Also, that sword isn't any bigger than the 2H swords in DAO.

Edit:

It's a little funny that you're calling people out and wagging your finger, without actually contributing to the topic of discussion yourself. I'm not trying to be mean, just making an observation.

I'll laugh the day games finally look real and you all can't tell where it ends and the real world begins, fear not I will lead a band of barbarians to enslave you all. You'll still get your gaming chairs after the mile high statue of me is built.

The graphics look superior to DA:O in every way IMO.
Is DA2 the most stunningly goodlooking game I've seen?
No, not at all. But as someone from BioWare said (can't remember who, and I'm paraphrazing here):
"We could make the game look like Crysis, but then we'd have to cut alot of other stuff that we'd rather keep in the game."

The new art direction is another matter, it seems to have moved from a gritty "realistic" style to a more flashy style (e.g jumping and spinning, lager weapons). They seem to have gone from "dark fantasy" to "high fantasy"
Is this good or bad?
I'll reserve my jugement until I've played the game for a while.

You have the correct viewpoint imo, and its one I share. Origins did not have great graphics. They were good, and suited the type of game that it was, but they were no showpiece. That diddnt matter though, brcause Origins had substance, and content pouring out from every other area. I dont care about the graphics in DA2. The fact that they're even a little better makes me happy. Im in it for the depth of characters, and customization, and strategic combat. I think most people who dug Origins are into it for those reasons as well.
