What the heck happened? DA:O was one of my favorite games.

Graphics are good. OP is either trolling or misguided.
Trolling would of been posting a pic of The Witcher 2 just for the lul.
What's up in this here house?
Where are these screens from? Never seen these before. Damn my Triss looking sexy there. Anyway graphics don't make a good game. However they can add to atmosphere. It does seem like DA2 still lacks in graphics department though we have not seen DX10 or DX11 yet. It will not affect my enjoyment of the game.

Err its a bad thing to know your playing a game? I mean I like to know where the real world begins.
Some of us prefer a deeper more engaging experience to forget about the real world. A casual gamer like yourself wouldn't understand.
This might be the single most condescending thing I have heard on this forum.

No thats not what I said. Stop trying to twist my words. Its people like you that make me feel sympathy for the graphics wh*res. If you guys had your way, games would still be in 2d today.

I don't disagree with you -- that second screenshot is clearly superior. Great graphics and art direction can make a great game more enjoyable.Skilled Seeker wrote...
Lets be honest here. Would you rather the Brecilian forest looked like this:

I don't think that amazing graphics are necessary for immersion though... I've played too many old games that drew me in to think otherwise. I also don't think that having less-than-cutting-edge graphics makes a good game bad.

Indeed I quite agree...because I am able to immerse myself in any game...regardless of the grahpics. If DA2 looked like an Atari 2600 game I would still enjoy it...because grahpics don't mean s*** to me in the slightest.Dr. Nexas wrote...

If you wasn't saying that, then I'll apolgize. I misread your post.
But eh, I was talking in general, not of my personal opinion, and I was trying to understan your viewpoint.. I think a good graphics can add atmosphere, but to me, if a game have a excellent graphic and bad story and characters, I don't like it. I will prefer to it a game with medium graphics and good story and characters.
Of course a game could add both good graphics and good story and characters, but to DA2 graphics is good enough (im my opinion of course). Of course it can't even be paragonated to TW2 graphics (nobody couls say otherwise), but to me it's good enough to add immersion and atmosphere.

I'm sure you would, but not as much as you do now. You are deluding yourself if you believe graphics have absolutely no effect on enjoyment. If this was the case, graphics would not advance.

And? theres nothing wrong with that at all if everything else about the game is of high quality...stop acting like grahpics is all that matters...because if you feel that way your playing the wrong games...because DAO looked even worse then this so your point is null...whatever it was to begin with.

LOL yes it is and gee I've been playing games since I had a Sega, then a 64, Ps1,2, X-box, Gamecube, X-box 360, three generations of PC. Yes thats Casual. And well to "escape the world" guess what soon as the power goes off, or the game ends, your right back into it, there is no escape. And to think so is to live a lie. And to live a lie is cowardly. Mind you I enjoy games I even used to RP, but I never wanted, nor ever allowed it to cover the world, and those that did always botherd me to an extent. To hide your eyes from it, to smile at it, or to be grim and charge it headlong, are really the only options. Which is worse I wonder. But enough of my philosophical musings.Teknor wrote...

Casual gaming is a healthy one.
All I'm saying is I don't want games to be all there is all I do, to the point its all that I am. I like to get outdoors, heck I like posting here, or spending time with my family. So I don't feel the need to have a game that becomes my life. Thats why I never could stand GTA4. If I play again its for fun, thrills, laughter or a challange, thats why I support bioware. Not as an escape, or "My life sim, if my life weren't so drab." You can find and do other things, in place of being here whining THIS NOT LOOKS REAL! Why not build a model, go on a hike, find some friends and hit an arcade or play something together. Seems such a waste of energy and youth. Thats all I have to say, insult me if you wish.

Personally, I'm fine with graphics that don't look too great. Good graphics are always a bonus, but I feel that in an RPG, graphics are really secondary. That's just me though, if you don't agree with me that's alright.

I didn't say graphics are all that matters. I am saying that they are as important as other aspects of a game. A game can't hold up on graphics alone but graphics and physics can make a decent game, an excellent one. And I know DA:O looks worse, what does that have to do with anything?

if they don't hinder the gameplay the series has been known for i'm all for improvement, when it does it's a problem like how it happened with ff13, it looks gorgeous but it's features have been cut to a bare minimum to accommodate for it..
