After watching reviews and checking various forums it seems that although it sounds like a great package only about 60% are happy with it. What is the state of the game at the moment? Are there any gamebreaking bugs, freezing and slowdown(Dragon Age Reminder...)?

Great game! Hopefully by the time you buy Mass Effect 2 the patch will be released! You would be a fool to skip this incredible game (playing it through for a third time and have had no problems). There is only a small fragment of ME2 players who have reported corrupted game saves. (It may seem like a lot on the forums) Hope this helps!

'Only 60% happy with it' just described all of game fandom. People **** when they are happy, mad, and indifferent.....such is the life of a gamer

It's a brilliant game that requires a patch. That about sums the situation up.

Great game and a definite buy if you haven't played it on PC or Xbox 360 yet. That being said, it does currently have a wide variety of bugs and one possible gamebreaker aka "Corruption Issues." Until the patch is eventually released, follow the backup precautions and you should be safe.

The game is amazing, even if you had not played ME1. Just finished my first play lastnight. I had in the 52 hours of play, a total of 4 freezes.

Just remember, forumites are just a very vocal minority.

Depends on your tolerance level. The game itself is a masterpiece. The PS3 version could be the ultimate presentation of ME2, were it not for the nasty bugs it comes with. Once the gamebreaking ones get patched, it'll be pretty safe to say that it is worth every cent.

There have been reports of out-of-sync audio in cutscenes, which I can't confirm since I'm waiting for the patch to come out before I do anything. I've come across only two reviews addressing this issue, so I'm not sure if it's only a bunch of people experiencing this, or if the others just don't care too much. Either way if you're fine with this and other smaller bugs that are unlikely to get taken care of by the first patch, I'd say wait for the first patch and then go for it.

If you don't mind doing the 'workaround' or don't worry about your game freezing / crashing / corrupting your saves too much, go get it now ;)

Yes, Mass Effect 2 on PS3 is worth it. It will be a must-play game once the patch is in place, but even without the patch, the time spent exiting the game backing up saves and returning to the game is worth spending to do at least one playthrough if not four or five playthroughs.

Worth every Euro I poured in this game at launch day.

Absolutely without a doubt! This is an amazing game but as someone mentioned, needs a patch. Not everyone experiences the gamebreaking bug, so you gott ask yourself - "do you feel lucky, do you?" (Dirty Harry impersonation) Image IPB

Anyway, this game is so great that even though my first Shepard was corrupted, I attempted a second character and finished the game (so glad I did). I currently have a third Shepard which is waiting for the PS3 patch.

The game is completely worth it mate, dont hesitate to buy the game, because you'll enjoy it loads.

You will have to backup yours saves till the patch is released just incase you get a corrupted save file but it's still well worth it.

Ps3 version of ME2 is unplayable. No ng+, bugs, freezings, long loads, ugly textures.....Its not "definitive version", it a piece of crap

Reported for trolling.  Not everyone has the NG+ bug (and NG+ is not even something everyone is interested in, since it's mostly pointless - it's actually harder to do a NG+ than to just start a new game with the "bonus XP and resources" you get from beating the game).

Freezing happens to very few people.

The loading times are only excessive on the Normandy.  Everywhere else they are the same or less than the other versions.

"Ugly textures"?  I don't even know where you get this from.  Overlord can have texture problems in the vehicle segments, but they're a minor inconvenience at best.  Other than that, the game is gorgeous and looks better than the 360 or PC versions to me.

Yes it is worth it. It is game with a great story and characters. You just have to look at the list of know issues, and any workarounds if any and decide for yourself whether to start playing the game or wait for that patch. It is all up to you.

If you have a 360 I would recommend that version since it can often be found for $20.

All of these people complaining about bugs represent just a very vocal minority and should not discourage you from playing.

Strange that most of the very vocal "minority" have recommended the game in spite of their experiences.

So much for your straw man....

I don't know, it's very convenient to have most of the DLC on the disk, and some people like me much prefer the PS3's controller.

Since all the DLC is worth it (I'd argue that Overlord and Lair of the Shadow Broker are the two best missions in the game) the price difference is fairly negligible.

Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

Personally, I think it looks better on the PS3 as well.

Dont report someone just because they dont agree with you. Freezing does happen to probably everyone and the NG+ bug is kinda serious. Also theres the off audio which ruins the immersion at times. And the bad textures in Overlord should not be there. Dont be a fanboy, the problems he mentioned are there, but i agree that all these bugs dont justify calling this game "crap".Urdont had some good points, he was just either angry at the game or lacked the intelligince to explain his arguement in a polite manner.

Oh and i highly reccomend this game, but id wait for the patch. You do not know how frustruating it is to lose 30 hours haha

It is clearly trolling to call this game "unplayable" and "a piece of crap". It was the language he used, not necessarily the content of his post.

It is convenient I agree, but even with the cost of all the DLC the 360 version will still run you less than $40.

The PS3 version does look slightly better, but its not worth arguing about.

The main disadvantage of the PS3 version is the inability to import your ME1 character.   Yes, there is an interactive comic but that IMO is an absolute travesty, eventhough it does allow you to make the important decisions.

I'm on my second playthrough, and just encountered my second bug.I've just encountered the rainbow glitch/bug two times and the out of sync audio in clips that involve shooting or fighting(not in-game).That's it.So I think it's an fantastic game, andthe patch will hopefully fix both of those issues:D

Hmm I think I will wait till the patch is out then get the game if there are indeed issues that can be fixed. Hopefully there will be a drop in price by the time the patch is out as there are loads of games to buy in 2011.

I have done one full play through (which I wasn't satisfied with due to the choices I've made) However I am glad to say this one of my favourite games so far. I will however wait for the patch before attempting to do another run through.
