2. I would remove those 3 ranks from warp ammo and the fourth rank from passive and get Heavy Warp. Then respec your warp ammo to slam or stasis does a great job of killing the scions on the platform because you can catch them as its moving and they drop to thier deaths cause the platform leave them behind
3. Get 1 drone down to health use pull or slam, then immediately hit it with heavy warp, this will kill that drone and damage/kill/knock off the platform or strip armor off the closest enemies to it, then use throw or shockwave to send the rest off the platforms.
4. You should have ways to strip armor quickly, especially on husks, if you are a good shot, then heavy pistols will work, if not then warp, incinerate are you best bet, then hit them with any biotic power, throw or pull or slam work best (3 sec cooldown) for instant death.
Thats mostly it, don't be overly aggressive, take out abominations and husks quickly, focus on harbinger and take him out first when you are on the platforms, otherwise if you have room to move around and get away from him take out the other collectors first.

I recommend the Arc Projector. Stasis is a great way to deal with the Scions if you care to restart the mission.

The most difficult part about this fight is the fact that it's so difficult to keep your team alive. They died right away for me every time. I've tried placing them in cover manually, letting them do their own thing, everything. They just can't seem to stay alive.
The problem as far as I can tell is simple: they don't take cover from shockwaves. I've seen them just standing behind cover not really doing anything and being hit by shockwaves.

That seems a bit harsh. I was there last night, and he seemed to spawn very quickly. I prefer to deal with the scions first (at least one of them, both if possible) and then use medigel to get my squad back.
I base it off of my own experience. I have the most trouble with that segment if Harbinger spawns on the first platform. I'm not claiming it's impossible to succeed if Harbinger spawns on the first platform, I just take it as an indication of my relative efficiency.

1) As soon as the cutscene ends and the platforms start coming in, take out the Avalanche (if it's not already out) and put your squadmates on the right-inside of the U-shaped cover that is in front of you.
2) Go to the right of the platforms where the first platform will land. As soon as it lands, fire off about 5 Avalanche shots to remove the Collector's barriers and freeze them. The Scion may take down your shields, but you should be fine. Use Unity to get your shields back if you have to.
3) Ignore the Scion and melee the frozen Collectors until they shatter. Harbinger may spawn, but he'll be frozen. You can melee him off the platforms without wasting ammo.
4) Another platform should now come in to the left carrying Collectors (and another one to the back carrying another Scion). Run to the Collector platform and use the Avalanche to freeze the collectors. If Harbinger spawns and he is not frozen, order your squad to focus on him to take him out as quickly as possible.
5) You should be left with two Scions. Alternate your weapons fire and powers between the two Scions until they have very little armor left. This is important: as soon as you take out one Scion, another Collector platform will come in. If whittle both Scions' armor down first, you can then take out both Scions out within a few seconds of each other before the other platform docks.
6) The last platform should not be much of a problem. You can use your Avalanche, weapons, and/or powers to finish the Collectors off. Harbinger will likely spawn, but without any Scions taking potshots at you, it should not be too much of a problem.

Walk to the enemy.
Shotgun blast in the face.
Repeat.
It doesn't get more straightforward that that.

I put my teammates in cover and rushed the first platform. I used throw on any unprotected enemies for a more or less instant kill. Otherwise used Miranda's and my warp on barriers and used the shotgun to clear the first platform. The first Scion is easy if you have a point in Stasis. Just wait for his platform to start moving and cast it. The second Scion doesn't move so I took him out with warps and bullets. The other two collector platforms I mainly fought from a distance with warps/pulls/throws and the Locust. The second Scion's shockwaves make it harder to rush those platforms. It's easier to take out the collectors and Harbinger first before worrying about the second Scion.

I dunno, depends on the shotgun

Playing it that way doesn't really fit with the uber aggressive hard charging assault sentinel style; but honestly you have to adapt your tactics sometimes to compensate for you weaknesses and Scions are definitely a weakness for an assault Sentinel since their shockwave will stun you and leave you vulnerable if you're out of cover.
Really just get in cover and focus any anti armor attacks you've got on the damn Scions who float around as soon as possible and don't worry about the Collectors since you can demolish them with your shotty if they get in close to you.
PS: The last Scion who doesn't float around on a platform isn't really a priority target like the others since its much easier to take cover from it as it lumbers towards you. I usually polish the final Scion off last after I've cleard the Collectors.

Personally I always just hunker down at the starting point and focus on getting rid of those damn Scions who float around on the platforms as quickly as possible because once they're gone its not a particularly challenging fight.
This, and spready our squadmates out as far as possible so that the Collectors can't concentrate their fire. It helps to have a sniper rifle, but it's not mandatory.
Also, like someone else already said, forget warp ammo, put those points in warp instead.

I have been playing on my Assault Armour sentinel on hardcore and I got to the collector ship where I finally got my shotgun and I don't seem to have any idea what I am doing. I tried doing the platforms multiple times and none of them were smooth at all. I have tech armour maxed to assault and my passive maxed to guardian with warp ammo rank 3 that I specced into specifically for the mission and I still have a hard time with the platforms.
When all else fails, do this.

Also I tend to bring Mordin and Kasumi along, because I find the stagger/panic effects really improve my chances of getting up close and personal with my Shotgun, and Flashbang disables Harbinger, which makes running and gunning too easy.
Trying blasting Collectors with Area Reave, then hit them Incineration Blast, and if you really want to make it unfair, then hit them with Flashbang, at that point, just run around and shoot them.
Keep in mind, refreshing the armor also refreshes your teamates abilites, so double up on the incinerate & flashbang if you have to.
Also I find using incinerate and flashbang on the husks at the end freaking hilarious.

Tactics to play this way: run close to the enemies, but no need to go hand to hand. If it doesn't have any armor, destroy it with SMG. If it has, switch to Predator after removing shields(other pistols don't work). Later pick AR and use Vindicator or Avenger (about the only class that can make use of it). If you need to fight long range, use the pistol and powers, you should have no problem.
This is truly aggressive play style. Perhaps more than the shotgun ones, which often rely on disabling the enemies and flanking. This way, Sentinel ME2 plays almost like a normal shooter.
I typically don't find too much use for Cryo Ąmmo if playing this way - the foe is usually dead when you start firing at it.
Throw is pretty useful as crowd control, esp. to get rid of the chargers, who can shrug off incendiary ammo.

I whittled one Scion down to a tiny sliver of life, repeated on the second Scion, killed the far away Scion [which triggered more Collectors], killed the last Scion almost instantly, revived my squad, then mowed down the last bunch of Collectors.
IIRC I delayed the Collector Ship as much as possible so I had more skill points than you did ... YMMV.
