Willpower = Stamina???

Dont argue about fat people on the side lines, that IS a mental and social issue. Firstly from a purely healthy perspective 85% of the food we eat is so stupidly high in estrogen, fructose and other junk your body cant naturally use that much energy or even knows what to do with half the chemicals in food. Briefly speaking pastuerised milk, soy milk (even though they are "healthy"), soda drinks etc are all reasons for excess fat. The next problem is larger people may not have the willpower to follow a stricker dietary course, less alcohol, proper sleep (god knows I rarely get a decent eight hours). Willpower is the ability to mentally focus and follow through on your goals. Hence they go hand in hand and you have to build both stats.
Your arguing game mechanics over possible real life workings of the human body to which here simply is no point. Otherwise I want to argue the point of why all my toons are fit and agile looking, or why do my characters have "HP" when a real life marine/martial artist can only take one bullet to the head.
In fact, there should be a minigame comprising of 50% of the game where you take your character through rigorous training exercises to keep your str/sta scores up. Let "willpower" be dictated by the player enduring the training and monotony.
Yep, I went on a total tangent here, but thi thread just hurt and seemed to miss the fact that games =/= life.

I understand perfectly.
And someone with high will power can have low stamina. But this has little bearing on this argument. It should be understood that stamina is something that can be nurtured and strengthened at a much faster rate than willpower. If I spent a couple months doing cardio and strength training I should be able to run longer and lift more for longer perionds of time than I can right now. But I would need the willpower to go out each day and train my body to gain that stamina increase. For some people this would be a relatively minor thing as they enjoy the activity, for others this is an obstacle that their will power would have to overcome.
Well for starters going out to the gym and training isn't relevant unless Dragon age has gyms or places you can workout and if they did doing so would also increase your Constitution. Going to the Gym, actually makes you healthier.
Saying Someones fitter because he has more willpower is forethought and not necessarily so it's also offset by things in your physical world and people like personal trainers.

Can a sprinter run for as long as a long distance runner? Chances are they do not have the training to last that long as their muscles and endurance are built for stop/go exersicing instead of one long run. Unless you actually participate in a sport I suggest that you do not come to conclusions on how exhusting mentally and physically it is.
Quick question: This thread would not be here if it was named something appropriate and had the same mechanic to it correct?
Well for starters sprinters & long distance runners are built different.
If you look at sprinters they are usually very tall and have long muscle fibers for Quick explosive speed but tire quickly.
Long distance runners are usually shorter and bulkier with short muscle fibers meant for long runs.
You see a Sprinter couldn't be a long distance runner no matter how much Willpower he had, he's just not built for it and vice versa.
Also probably Correct.

i would have worked as
1) willpower makes attacks cheeper.
2) con gives you a larger pool
simple and makes sense
This I agree with 100%. Even if Stamina increased only by level and willpower made attacks cheaper would still be acceptable. One key trait in fighting is energy wasting, the ability to do moves efficently as possible.

I used to run crosscountry and let me tell you, playing football with your friends or shooting hoops in front of your house is fun 'physical activity.' When you're in a race miles long, it loses its fun pretty quick and its all guts and mentality, thats where your willpower comes in. If you don't have the mindset to endure the pain, you won't be able to perform as well.Jacks-Up wrote...
For those of you that snuggest you need willpower to do physical activity,
People do physical activity for fun you know.
Your willpower very much has a lot to do with stamina, but I see your point in how consitution should play a role. I think that constitution should increase your maximum stamina, but willpower should stay the same by affecting your stamina regeneration.
