I know.  This is the online store forum, but I don't see one for "brick and mortar store" purchases.

I purchased Awakenings from Gamestop when it first came out, and registered it through this site.  Subsequently, I got myself a new computer.  When I went to install Awakenings, I discovered that I had pretty much everything except the booklet--  CD, CD case, even a little ad for DA2 and EA comics tucked in.

Is there a way to retrieve my CD key?  Or am I out $40, despite having registered the game?

When I followed a previous help subject's in instructions on how to look in the registry (I do have the old compy), there was no Awakenings key there.  I'm just guessing, not being a computer whiz, but I uninstalled Awakenings on it and that might have cleared the key. 

So, this isn't really a PC technical advice question. I've traipsed down that road already:/  I'll happily repost this in the correct forum, but I was unable to find one pertinent to this issue.

Edit:  I was able to get onto live chat with EA (I'd been unable to before).  Embarassing, but I'd had the wrong user name--  for some reason my user name was my email.  I finally typed it in as a sort of random attempt to get onto EA help.  Don't know if that's normal or me typing in the wrong blank when registering.  Never underestimate the power of random flailing about.

Anyway, using my Bioware registration information, they were able to confirm ownership and gave me a CD key over chat.

Lesson learned--  write that CD key down somewhere, even if just as a text file.
