It's by no means a sure thing, just saying it's a possibility.

From what I understand tesselation is only being used on things like terrain, the body models will not use this feature.

Could be right, but DX11 got other features, more advanced lighting techniques, and on top of this High/Very high settings might also include higher polygon models. High/Very High settings are exclusive to DX11.

The way the engine renders shadows and lighting can change the entire look of a complex model - so the two 'different' faces we've seen can easily be attributed to different settings.

Sure, just saying we can't shrug it off as an "older" builds when it might as well be due to the fact that the public demo is gonna be locked at Dx9 medium settings.

Actually, I can shrug it off as an older build because 1) I know faces change dramatically over builds in BioWare games while 2) I've seen nothing to indicate DX 11 can cause that drastic a change.

That said, I'd be interested in any examples you have of it doing this.

Someone remind me to cancel the xbox gold come April.

Examples? We're not just talking about changes DX11 do, but the actual settings are locked at Medium with DX9, in many games higher polygon models (more detailed faces etc.) are unlocked on higher graphical fidelity settings?

I'm not saying you're wrong, could be from older build, I'm just saying I could be right too, but it's really kinda moot as we'll find out at release when DX11 is available. Or even tomorrow if the faces are the improved versions.

Why didn't you just say that?

According to Joker guy, the German demo goes up to High. Perhaps they restricted it for the English demo but that's the one we've seen.

:blink: Just realized I completely used the incorrect "your."  Damn you Bioware and Microsoft for not only making me shell out 10 dollars, but then making me so distraught over it that I use incorrect grammar!

I tried to enable it in the config tool, but if you look under settings it go back to DX9 when you enter the game.

Another hint it's not working is I get no FPS drop by enabling DX11 in the config tool.

The only things that can't be enabled are:

- VH quality graphics
- Anti Aliasing
- DoF
- High Quality Blur

I assume the DX9 only shot was simply taken with an old graphics card, or an OS that wasn't Windows 7.

HD 5870 Mobility
Windows 7 64bit.

I think it maybe my config tool not saving the settings, will try to look into it.

There seems to be some question as to whether the change is really happening.

Could someone possibly provide a screenshot of Cassandra or Varric at the default (DX9 Medium) and the improved (DX11 High) settings?

Well, the change to Isabela is clearly not a modeling change it seems to be a texture change. They improved her makeup, drew her eyebrows in darker and added more definition to the edges of her face. This is not a DX9-DX11 change, as the improved Isabela we saw was from the live demo Mike Laidlaw demonstrated which he said was running in DX9.
