I could easily have mistaken the change as lighting.Glycerine Queen wrote...
Well, the change to Isabela is clearly not a modeling change it seems to be a texture change. They improved her makeup, drew her eyebrows in darker and added more definition to the edges of her face. This is not a DX9-DX11 change, as the improved Isabela we saw was from the live demo Mike Laidlaw demonstrated which he said was running in DX9.

i don't know if that demo is really enabling the changes. the things DX11 should be doing like smoothing jagged points making more belieavable spherical objects, like varric's necklace. i'd imagine the beads would perfectly spherical with DX11.

It's not lighting because it's from the exact same scene, both of which are running on DX9 and not DX11. Not to mention how much sharper her eyebrows look and the obvious increase in makeup around her eyes.

I haven't played the demo (still belives that bioware have made a good game so I'll follow their rules) so I might be the wrong person to answare but of what I've heard they made normal much more like casual, keeping hard for the "hard core" games and nightmare for those who like to die or just love the tactics.Danon666 wrote...
I played German version of demo today and i must say something Dragon Age was, harder, better more epic. Why did you do something like that to my lovely Dragon Age:( It's no more my lovely hardcore rpg. Dragon Age 2 is a hybrid of hack&slash-rpg for casuals. You killed me bioware:/
Accually I thought Dragon age was kind of easy (excpt for the last battles of denerim due a lagging cpu) however I'm not finished with nightmare yet.
But to get to the point (you can clearly see why some persons think I have a problem with sticking to a red thread
About the animations; the videos I've seen on youtube is just the same attack animations over and over again except for a few and I don't think bioware will let us down on that part. Besides if you are stuck on the animations of the attacks you should maybe focus a bit more on the story, the world, etc. or start looking for a company which loves the animations more then the story
Edit: In the beggining of the thread Priestly says that it's locked to normal.

Hey it's not weird, I feel this same things about my games and books. The most exciting moment is right before Im opening CD box or book this first, special time, full of hopes for long and good funbiomar wrote...

As a person
who played German Demo, I can assure You that there's any unknow heavy
spoiler in this demo, so don't worry. The only spoiler there is, who
will die during proloque, and while we all knows that, there's nothing
to worry.
Thanks for the info. But it's not just big spoilers that I'm worried about. It's just . . . even experiencing the feel of the game before the full version. Playing the demo might make receiving my nice, new, shiny DA2 disc a bit less exciting because the surprise factor of what an early part of the game holds might be dampened. It's a bit weird, I know. Especially because I've seen gameplay photos and videos.
Then again, maybe the demo will make playing the full version for the first time even more exciting because I'll be even more keen to find out what happens next!

I may have not been paying attention enough to what I was responding to. I was actually talking about the Cassandra change, with her having things like more reflective armor. I see now you were talking about Isabela in the Livestream.Glycerine Queen wrote...

You guys do realize that there is no such thing as to pirate a demo? It is actually going to be free itself, so no one is losing anything in this case. But, I'd like to point out that For me it's not worth playing a leaked buggy GERMAN demo. I'd rather wait for 1 more day and actually try out a legit English one, which hopefully is better quality than the latter. I would rather devote my first experience to something I can enjoy fully with understanding and reading everything, etc. Another thing I'd like to point out that EA has some very loose ends they need to fix.The Crysis 2 beta, etc. It's their fault that such things happen because they do not keep it in safe hands, not the actual pirates that do it
The problem is that the German demo is not leaked, it's comming from the Gamestar magasine DVD straight from Bioware.

Bioware, trough mister Evil if I'm not wrong, have said that the demo won't have DX11 features enabled. They might have left the interface bottum unlocked by a misstake or they didn't think it was necessary to lock/remove it on the demo.Ray_x3 wrote...

Something is happening though, I get a fps decrease from around on DX9 ~90 fps to ~60 fps when I check DX11 and High settings in the config tool.

Don't agree that it's hack & slash. Fights are faster than in DA:O, but still we can ( PC version) use pause and give orders to ours companions. Maybe the h&S feelings coming from all those new character moves in game during a fight ( personaly I dislike those all jumpings around like PoP or DMC). To be honest I was a little worried that my mage Hawke was able to hit an enemies with her staff like professional warrior, but ..well..was funny to kill Ogre this waygastovski wrote...

They're specific to that branch.Myth of Hero wrote...
Chris, if you're still checking this for questions, I have a few.
1. In DA2, if i have talents in the two handed branch or sword and shield branch, can I use those talents with different weapons or are they specific to that branch? It's like DA:O but faster and easier.2. I'm still confused about the new combat system. is it going to be a hack and slash or just like DAO?
Yes.3. Do warriors have to wear armor?
its hack and slash not very much like dao

Of course this will all be in the final product, but the demo is a bad representation of the game I think as it only shows the combat.

There seems to be some question as to whether the change is really happening.
Could someone possibly provide a screenshot of Cassandra or Varric at the default (DX9 Medium) and the improved (DX11 High) settings?
From what I've seen, even though you can set the quality to high, the DX11 features are still disabled. I have no idea what the implications of that are (is high not DX11 only? is the demo build just hella wonky? no one knows!), but there it is. Also, watching videos in German and reading settings in German and listening to dialogue in German makes it really hard to come back and read English. Just throwing that out there. If you value not having a major headache, don't try and look up the German demo.

Well as I said in a previous comment, I haven't played the demo, so I might not be the rigth person to say what they have done or not but to quote Chris Priestly :
if you don't belive me go to the Dragon Age 2 Demo Announced topic and read the first comment from Priestly - http://social.biowar...index/5920884/14 - Will it show off DX11 effects on the PC?
DX11 features will only be available on the PC purchase copy of Dragon Age 2.[/list]
