Hey,
Have I simply missed this part of the game or does it only appear in that promo video? You know, the one where morgana makes a darkspawns head asplode?
Also, can anyone clue me in to why I can't make a thread on the spoilers forum, the button does not appear. I've got a 360 version of the game registered to my EA account... :/
Snowy mountaintop scene?

No idea about the forum thing.
Promo vids are promo vids. That wasn't in-game footage or anything.
The location they are getting to is in the game, and so is the spell Morrigan uses.
The location is on the left side of the map.

You have to register the CD key for the game... not sure about the 360 version, for PC there's a code on the back of the manual (different from the DLC codes if you got those). Over on the left there, under Profile, select Register games and it should walk ya through it. Took me a while to figure out too, so don't feel bad.

The encounter in the trailer actually happens in game if you choose to, but the circumstances aren't exactly the same. You can hear Morrigan say "Lovely, so we can freeze to death while looking for the bones of a dead woman." You'll recognize that quest when you find it ingame and be able to locate it in the adventure itself.

Well, I'm pretty sure I've scene other bits of high quality CG from some of the other promo videos used in the game, I just assumed this would be a part of it as well. Kinda disappointing really. In fact, it kinda makes me a lil mad when dev companies release these high quality CG trailers that do not use in game assets and never appear in the game. I view it as lying about your product for marketing purposes. Regardless, DA:O is still the best game ever. I just wish they would market the game on it's own merits rather than create smexy visuals w/ Marylin Manson playing in the background.

For the life of me I'll never understand why people like in-game CG sequences. They break immersion, they're non-interactive and they take enormous amounts of time to make (or enormous amounts of money to pay another company to make).
And how were they lying about the product? Did you buy the game assuming the entire thing would have CG-quality visuals? I don't get it.

yea i think the trailer guys did a great job with whatever material bioware gave them on the clip it is just epic, just does not play out in the game like it does in the trailer but the spirit is the same.

Indeed, it's in the game, just a bit different - like no Darkspawn. It's part of the Redcliffe quest lines.
As for registering an Xbox version - you copy the numbers from the UPC (barcode) on the back of the box. All of them, including the smaller numbers outside the bars.
