The graphics dont bother me at all,its the combat animations that put a bad taste in my mouth. The two hand warrior animation is horrible. What, swords weigh a pound now? The stiff slashes and one hand swipes...are you serious. It just looks bad to me. I was hyped as hell until I got an extended look at the demo vid. The two hander in origins was not without it's flaws but Bioware from what i've noticed dont tweak they bring down the hammer on game issues.
And how is it the enemys all swing like origins but the player looks like he's on triple haste or something?
This game looks terrible

I know it will sound like im trolling but im really not. Its just that Im pretty dissapointed with Bioware and the direction their games are going in. The new art-direction is all cartoony and anime inspired.. over-the-top animations, weapons rediculously huge yet having no actual impact on whatever theyre hitting. Urgh.
For the sequel of a game that was billed as the 'spiritual successor of Baldurs Gate' it seems the whole thing has just been dumbed-down. Maybe im getting old I cant help but feel like bioware has sold-out. Is the next game just gonna be a dating simulator for 15 yo's to "squee" at.. urgh

Arent you glad you have the freedom to not buy it?. Thats all it really takes. Its a much better way to voice your displeasure than by creating yet another thread spouting the displeasure of your singular opinion. Which by the way in my opinion is dead wrong.

I couldn't care less about the graphics. I'm surprised more people aren't complaining that the game is half as long as Origins, but costs just as much.

Yeah, but graphics does make all the difference. Where as one might play Dragon Age just so see the characters and make decisions, a person playing the Witcher 2 could play it just to admire the attention to detail.

Can we stop with the TW2 vs DA2 battles? They usually end in locked threads. Besides, I think we haven´t seen PC screens at higher settings. It won´t be TW2 but with some luck graphics won´t be worse than Origins as in the screens we´ve seen so far.

I'm not starting any TW2 vs. DA2 battle. I'm just saying that the graphics make a huge difference. While I would normally say that graphics aren't everything, when looking at the Witcher, characters can seem real to you when they really aren't. It gives the illusion that it's not real, while in playing a Dragon Age game, you know it's just fantasy. That's all.

Rule 1 on Bioware social network,
Never criticize the game itself or Bioware. You'll be flames by thousands of fanboys with flamethrowers while all you can use is a broken shield.
This totally incorrect. There have been a ton of criticism and good debate about it. Your comment is bewildering since it is so blatantly obvious in every way that the orginal post was not meant to critique the game at all but just rile up people.

Why does it feel like I'm the only person in this thread who actually played The Witcher to completion? It's very much in the style of a BioWare game. There's a heavy emphasis on characters, dialogue, story, and choice. It's not like Oblivion, and it's not generic fantasy.

All I'm saying is that the level of graphics could make all the difference. I'm not talking about which one is better.

I have no problems with The Witcher. The combat system was different, but not bad. Character development was again different, but I felt it could have been better. Still, I enjoyed the game for the dialog etc. (I never did complete it though due to losing my saves and I have a tendancy to play a game then come back to it at a later date to finish it off or start again. Don't ask why. *shrugs* It took me a while to complete one playthrough of Dragon Age as well.)
Regarding it not being a generic fantasy though, I disagree there (to some extent). The races in the game are portrayed differently than in a lot of novels, but elves and dwarves etc. are still used. However, the setting seemed pretty unique with the alchemy and mutation thing. (The generic label can also be applied to Dragon Age btw with regard to using stereotypical races)
Anyways, the above doesn't make either game bad. I like both of them. It's just that I feel in order to get away from being generic, you should really make an effort to be as original as possible and that includes a world's inhabitants.
Summary: Basically, if you want to use elves etc. in a novel but they're different, why not go the extra mile and name them something else?
Granted, I'm not looking at this from a gameplay standpoint, but rather from a writer's viewpoint.
Edit: Btw, the choices and consequences in The Witcher did seem pretty good from what I saw.

So because you don't like how the game looks, it's automactically bad? I'm sorry to burst your bubble but unlike Skyrim (and all TES games) Dragon Age 2 will be fun.
P.S
The Witcher 2 looks good in some places but the lighting is rather bad whereas DA2's lighting and atmosphere is rather good in my opinion. Both look good in different places but since when did graphics make a game good? The Witcher didn't have good graphics at all, it was average but that didn't stop people from playing it. Only bad graphics stop people from playing a game normally and DA2 is certainly not bad graphics.
So to the OP:
Have fun playing Skyrim with its copied and pasted dungeons. Have fun roaming a land where everything is just trees (confirmed) and have fun with the terrible combat system.

Final Fantasy XIII had marvelous graphics. DAO was still a better game in my opinion. Don't think appearance matters all that much.
