C'mon now lads, you know a great game is determined by how jiggly the ladies are when they run, and this one will be judged by how much skin is shown when your Lady Hawke (And dudes, you know you will, shut up! You know...you...will!) gets it on with Isabella. If it's good then the game will be the best you ever played, graphics be damned!

  Never had such a laugh as I've had reading this thread.  Everyone's got their own opinions to how a game should be to them, n some people should be really careful though on how they word their criticism of certain games.  You get angry fans who just might want to tell you off .  Which you might deserve with some of your wording.  Anyways just had to say I enjoyed the laugh, tyvm

This!  Honestly, in less "cartoony" games the whole screen looks like one big smear of grey brown and muzzleflash.  A game with an extremely sophisticated engine and detailed artwork can still be an eyesore.

Tbh I haven't seen much of DA2's graphics ... I didn't see the older demo and what I've seen of the more recent screenshots looks fine. I don't usually play demos but I'll be downloading the DA2 one on Tuesday to see what it looks like. I like "oooo pretty" graphics as much as the next person. However, graphics rarely get in the way of my enjoyment of the game unless they're really really bad. I never even noticed the supposed "sub standard" graphics of DAO though I have heard talk about them on the boards.

The Witcher 2 looks very pretty. I enjoyed the first game a lot.

I also enjoyed Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. That said, they're very different games. As an above poster mentioned ... it's apples and oranges.

I liked ME1 and ME2 better than the Fallout games though.

True, but the thing is, the people who oppose DA2 and other recent BioWare games on the grounds that they aren't the same as their old games don't care that playing is not compulsory.  They think that, if anyone else is allowed to enjoy these games, if the games are even allowed to exist, it will somehow ruin their lives.

DA2 has a lot in common with gay marriage in this way.

Meh, why does everyone complain about graphics? As long as they're not like, pixely it's fine. I think that ps2 games look fine. Great. If you want stuff to look LIKE REAL LIFE go outside.

Pfft... if I wanted stuff to look the same as when video games started... what the hell is the point of getting anything past a nintendo?

That being said, I think DA2 looks great. Much better than DA:O's graphics.

I also thought that the weapons packed no impact but recent playthrough videos have changed my mind. If anything, I feel like they pack MORE impact now. Sound has a lot to do with it so if all you've been watching is gameplay off a hand cam with no sound then it will feel weightless.



About it being less deep, I am spending more time now trying to figure out the best tanking build than in Origins were it was just buy everything in sword and shield and you're now an awesome tank. I think that that would be an indication of the game's depth.

Why does it seem necessary to rip on other games/companies in order to big up the ones we like? Personally I think it's awesome that there are numerous developers trying to make decent RPGs. 2011 looks like being a really good year. I loved New Vegas. I enjoy the Elder Scrolls series well enough. I'm sure I'll like Witcher 2. And Dragon Age 2 will be glorious. And they're all lovely in their own way, like people. Most people. Some people. Well, a few. Okay, not like people.

I like to look of DA 2 but the way they talked about the graphics Bioware made it seem they were going for something ALOT better looking but I don't mind the look of it now. But I dream one day for an RPG to be made on any Cryengine. Unlike that douchebag Silvanend

Yeah, it looks pretty bad for a 2011 game, but it should still be a good game. It seems there is plenty of stuff to make up for poor graphics quality.
