I'm hoping that's a sign for us that we CAN become fighter/mages.

Either that, or they were lazy with the body builds for Male Hawke, so he retains muscles for each class.

I'm betting on the latter.

Hawke was an Apostate, who spent his life running away from Templars with his family. That, and have you seen the way he uses his staff? There is no way he would be a scrawny guy.

A mage being physically weak is as much a stereotype as a warrior being built like a bodybuilder.

I dont think that the standard human male model used in DA II (or DA:O) looks THAT muscular to being with (think The Rock), so, I think its fine. And the female model looks very athletic, not muscular.

What I find to be more disturbing is the fact, that even the old people all have sixpacks and look like they are in there twenties from the neck on downwards

why would they not be? i mean Apostates are not exactly living sheltered lives and travel everywhere by foot while having to fight for their survival constantly. as for circle mages they probably get alot of exercise going up and down those stairs, lugging around books and who knows maybe the templars make sure they get exercise.

For the actual reason i think its either laziness from bioware or they just wanted to do away with the skinny mage stereotype.

One can only dream of looking half as good as Mama Hawke after popping out three children who are now in their early 20s.

Never cared for muscular mages, personally, if you are fit enough to use real weapons then you should be dual classing, in my opinion.

Why the hell would you wanna use "real weapons" when you can burn someones face off with your mind? If I could do that I wouldnt give a crap about swords. If magic was real, and everyone could use it. In the middle ages they wouldnt have even bothered making swords and armor.

I mean whats the point? You charge at someone with a sword, and meanwhile they drop a iceberg on your head.
Thats like saying all soldiers should stop fightning with guns, and start fighting with clubs.

1.Cardio excersice will never give you a six pack,

You need to first build a base by lifting (squats, benchpress, Deadlifts, ect...i think you need to bench atleast around 200 lbs before getting a visible six pack depending on height)then do lots of specilized excersice like situps/crunches and what not. Plus the lack of protein shakes and gyms would make this extra hard in the dragon age universe.

2.What skiny mage sterotype? all the mages in DAO were ripped as well.

Why are mages not muscular? Muscle power isn't like spellcasting; if a normal guy works out three hours a day for a week and a mage does the same, then they'll have roughly equal muscular growth. And three hours a day isn't all that long at all, and still enough time to develop large arms or legs or whatever else if done consistently. I know. I've tried it.

Game design resources. Heck they took out choosing your race, now you're stuck with one body type per gender.
Oh how I'd love a body build slider, people who know me know I like playing games as slender guys, but alas, no variety in body for the Hawkes and Shepards out there.

Yes but you live in a world where you can find specific weight sets to match what you need to lift in order to build muscle, and also it's easy for you to get the needed amount of Protein/Vitaman D to do it aswell.

No one can get what Hawke has by simply doing pushups/situps. You need weights and A specilized diet.

They can be muscular,

But not ripped to the extent they are.

Maybe we should start arguing about why they aren't all malnourished short people instead. Because, we all know life in that setting produces athletically tall underwear models instead.

I wonder if you have any idea how "big" a medievial knight really was.

In the end, it's a pointless discussion. If you care so much, feel free to edit the models using the toolset, assuming we get a toolset this time.

Who's to say they don't have that stuff? All proteins we know of (yes, 'protein' in the singular form is a misnomer; there's thousands of them) come from organic creatures anyway. Hawke must eat a lot of meat. Weights are quite simply that: weights. Anything sufficiently heavy will suffice as a resistance against which to overload (and thus improve) your muscles.
And no, I did not use any proteins when I was excercising, aside from those naturally found in cow meat, fish meat and chicken meat (not going to mention the plants. Botany isn't my thing). I'll bet I could still match Hawke's arms for size. Not the abs (and I do agree that those look ludicrously well-done), but for simple muscular growth?
Not impossible at all for anyone!

Or just living your life on the run. Hawke is an Apostate. I imagine he would get enough excersize walking, running, hunting, farming, not to mention swinging that big staff around. I think he could get some good muscle mass from constantly swinging around a heavy staff. Let alone a heavy staff with a blade attached to it.

Mage Hawke isn't THAT muscular. hes strong looking but still fairly lean. and weve never seen warrior or rouge Hawke topless so don't assume that they're just as muscular. (they're probably jacked)

1.No evidence to this, If we're going by the average middle ages diets, it wasn't very good for protetin let alone your overall health.

2.But lifting 50 lbs over and over dosen't work, you need to build up resistance. and I don't know where Mages are getting 200lbs worth of lifting material and having the means to measure it.

3.Then you did use proteins,

4.Hawkes arms are normal from what i've seen, It's his chest i'm talking about

5. This isn't Simple muscle growth, this is The Rock size pecs and abs.

That staff dosen't weigh over 120 lbs at that's probaly exagerating. And walking/cardio dosen't build muscle outside the legs so that won't contribute to his Pecs
If that's the heaviest thing he lifts it's not nearly big enough to even build a base.
