How can you abandon Redfcliffe? I thought you HAD to deal with the demon and save the Arl to complete that section?
When you first arrive and speak to Bann Tegan you can refuse to help him or you can just leave the area before the Battle at Nightfall. You will have to go back eventually to deal with the Redcliffe Castle portion, but the village itself will have been wiped out by the undead, save for Tegan.
Teagan gets a bit miffed if you do that. Just FYI.

Ser Garlen has his fork, and Alistair gets a new sword - it is a win-win situation.Aurelet wrote...

Oh, there was a lot I missed in my first few playthroughs....
-- The prisoner in Ostagar, and even then, it took me another couple playthroughs to discover he had a key I could get.
What prisoner in Ostagar? I am stunned!
There's a prisoner in a cage up in the area with the infirmary that you can talk to. He'll want food and water which you can get from the guard next to his cage and if you ask the prisoner why you should help him, he'll give you a key to the chest by the Tranquil across from the Quartermaster. Then, if you wait until you're back from the Korcari Wilds, you can open the chest (before that, the Tranquil is standing there and won't allow you to).

Small thing...when I tilted the camera and actually noticed the ceilings I was surprised at how nice some of them looked. How many PC players ever saw them?
I admit that only my 4th playtrough, now I am really taking the time, am I noticing some amazing details. The ceiling artwork in the circle tower came as a total suprise. Very nice work.
One of the most fun hidden things in the game was the Elven beggars. Give them money and keep coming back and giving money and the crowd will grow. Eventually half the city will stand in a crowd waiting for a handout. Hilarity ensues.
EDIT : I just realized I never did Ser Garlen's Sword quest in Ostagar and now it's too late
