So I'm playing through Mass effect 2 again with an imported level 30 character. All my party members have all their skill points and I was wondering whether or not I need to save some points for the special abilities you unlock for them after their loyalty mission? Can I use all the points I have now to spec them or will this leave them without any points for their special ability?

When you unlock their loyalty ability, one point is automatically put into it.
If you use all points now, obviously you won't have them available for the loyalty power.
You can respec them at will if you have LoTSB.

You need to save points for their loyalty power. They get a free point in their loyalty power when they become loyal.
