I can't wait for my preorder and wanna know something? I don't care a wit whether the graphics are a bit dated. I am PSYCHED about the story and combat, the many different opportunities for different character builds, i.e. specialists vs. generalists, the romances, character interaction and the almost guaranteed replay value...

I don't give a **** if the graphics aren't amazing since I am convinced many other aspects of the game will be!

Who wishes to join me in this thought?

Not better than Witcher? Don't care.

Bad in general? Yes I care, very much so.

Hopefully, they'll prove me wrong and I'll like it, but it seems unlikely.

Ninja edit fail

So unless graphics are perfect, you won't like the game?

I agree with all your points and I am psyched for all those reasons. I can still feel unhappy about the graphics.

I don't understand graphic w*ores. Sometimes I wish graphics hadn't advanced past PS1 just so I don't have to hear people whine all the time about how every little detail needs to be perfect. That's not why I play games....

I thought DAO looked fantastic and from what I've seen of the PC demo, I'm gonna be stoked with the sequel. I have no idea what JRPGs look like and I really don't give a $%^&.

What would please you people? This is a serious question.

That "IT'S ALL ABOUT THE STORY" argument is retarded, sorry. If you think this way, play some games from the 90's. Graphics aren't the top priority of most players but just saying "Yeah they are bad but they don't matter!" is stupid, you could also turn it around and say that "Yeah, story is bad, as long as graphics are good!".

Further note that the graphics are something we can see yet while we cannot judge the story's quality...hmmmm, so technically, you base your argument on something you cannot yet judge...HMMMMMM.

Can you understand other people having opinions different from your own? Congratulations, you just understood graphics ****s! :wizard:

Believe me, I am amazed at how much graphics matter to me. I actually played Gothic 4 for waaay too long just because it was so pretty.

I seem to be from another planet or something. DAII graphics look AMAZING to me, especially on those latest screenshots, so gorgeous! And the character animations are so good, the facial expressions! What's not to love?

So the simple solution is to not buy the game. If you do buy the game and whinge and **** about it, it is your own fault because you bought a game that you knewingly realised was bad...simple solution, don't get the game.

Stop feeling superior just because you don't appreciate good graphics. Tetris and Chess can do without good graphics, but an rpg with cinematic presentation needs good graphics, e.g. detailed character models to convey emotions etc.

Enough with The Witcher 2, if I cared about that game I'd be on The Witcher 2 forums

Something a bit more along the lines of this, perhaps:

Cool story.
But bad graphics =/= good gameplay, DA2 can suck at both.

Character builds? Really? First DA is medicore at best in terms of mechanics.

I play old games all the time, the graphics don't bother me. My favourite game ever is Kyrandia II (1993), I've replayed it numerous times.
'It's all about the story' is not 'a retarded argument'. It's not stupid. It's an opinion. To me, story matters the most. It doesn't make me or my opinion 'retarded' (also let's stop using ableist language :wizard:)

Also, turning the argument on its head and using a completely opposite claim to prove that the OP's claim is wrong is some poor logic, I have to say.

But I sincerely agree on your last point. We've seen some graphics but we don't really know much about the story, so we can't judge that yet. however, we haven't seen the graphics in all its potential either.

edited for clarity and typos.

So you won't be buying the game then, good for you.

I don't really care about graphics. And if I do, style is more important than textures or effects to me.

In some of the newer games, everything is way too shiny and colorful and many effects are overused without a real purpose. I prefer a fitting style over the best graphics possible. And in my opinion Dragon Age 2 has a fitting style. Bad textures in Origins didn't bother me, I wouldn't even have noticed them without using the forums.

I hate to disappointment you, OP, but I prefer both. Even so, I don't want to waste $60 just for watching cinema and playing the same things with slightly different choices, over and over and over and over again. I want something different and unique. Something that is flexible enough for me to create, mod my own story and share it with others. Something to show to the community that my Hawke doesn't look and wear the same clothes like yours. The Witcher 2 promises a toolset. DA2 promise none yet. But I'll keep my finger cross they'll release one. Else, DA2 will be my last DA series.

It does not need "photo-realistic" graphics to do this; DAO did quite well as far as I'm concerned, and DA2 looks like it will do somewhat better.

I find them serviceable. It's not like I'm going to have to strain my eyes or anything while playing the game. That said, there is no denying that BioWare is way behind the competition in this area. Hopefully they will catch up with Dragon Age III.

i actually prefer games to have good graphics, saying that i do not find dragon age 2 graphics to be bad in any way, are they going to win awards for its graphics? no, but i happen to like the art style and they are an improvement from origins

Here is my opion on graphics. Graphics do matter in some ways but they are not everything. If a game tries to look realalistic but can't reach want they are going for then it looks terrible. I mostly see this on bad shooter games. Most games that people call bad graphics I think they are the games art style. Not are games need to look real and if a game goes for there own look I think most of the time it works better in their favor. For example WoW does not look pretty by todays standard but it has it's own art style that I think works for the game. Same with DA2.

Sory If my wording does not make sense.

Sure! *busts out old PS1 Final Fantasy's* Yep, still as fun as they were twelve years ago!
