I like the name 'Geralt', actually.

Oh, and I trade Fenris for Geralt as LI anytime, gimme.

on contrary graphics are bad or good but combat looks terrible

really? I thought the DAO combat looked abysmal and DA2 took a big step foward. Maybe we're looking a two different games.

Love how everyone's bashing the original Witcher's graphics, when they fail or intentionally miss the fact that the original Witcher used BioWare's own Aurora Engine, y'know the engine that made NWN series?

And I love how everyone starts to judge the game based on sex cards and whatnot. Seriously have you played through the game? Y'know like not stopping in the middle of Chapter 2, that's the DA:O equivilant of quitting in the middle of your Origin story, play the game from beginning to end if you want to judge Witcher's story.

The problem is getting from beginning to end. Geralt never apealled to me. I just couldn't get into the character, but that's the major difference between Witcher and DA. The Witcher team can take extra time to work on graphics etc because the character is extremely predefined. Hawke's story on the otherhand has a lot more decission branches that need to be considered and that has to be balanced with game design, graphics etc.

Witcher and DA are two very different types of RPGs, and comparing them is like apples and oranges. Some people like apples, some oranges, some both, and some are violently allergic to one or the other... Arguing is silly.

This whole argument is especially funny since Diablo 3 with its top-down graphics will sell more copies than TW2 and DA2 together.

Hey man, Diablo 3 is srz bznss

:P

I don't understand how a game without the ability to bone half the people you meet can sell better than the Witcher 2 or Dragon Age II.

if my friend is too go by then all of diablo 3 fans are basement dwellers

That "IT'S ALL ABOUT THE STORY" argument is retarded, sorry. If you think this way, play some games from the 90's.

We will when you go and play Crysis.

Please don't even try that card... :pinched:

Unless that was sarcasm and I missed it, which is hard to tell on a forum.

That said, Diablo II was a fascinating and addictive game... why make try to make the game seem exclusive to "PC extremist" when in truth most gamers love it?

EDIT: Just noticed the sic.. I withdraw my statement =]

Such bold claims from someone who has nothing to do but spam old build images and has not even played the game yet.

That image is not from an 'old game build'. It is from a post made by a dev on the Bioware blog, days ago, talking about the lighting in DA2.

Note: The game has gone gold.

Maybe, but it's also the game as most players will see it; not every player on PC/Mac has a high end system which will take advantage of the higher level of detail that some players seem to equate with a good game.

So far much of the reason so many people are looking to The Witcher 2 is because CD Projekt have been very open about not sacrificing substance for "coolness" and I'm hoping the Dragon Age II team have taken the same course.

This is a GOOD example.

Oh, so Geralt will not be having sex with every second female non-player character he sees, this time?

How do you figure that? According to the developers, the Witcher 2 has three different beginnings, depending on decisions made during the first game, and 16 different endings depending on decisions during the second game.

How much endings & beginnings will DA2 have?

Starting from the original Witcher, not really. Geralt was still your character (thanks to the cliche of amnesia) and you can still direct his actions, really the only difference between Hawke and Geralt is that you can change Hawke's face and gender.

As for CD Projekt Red having the extra time to work for graphics. The graphics exist to support the story, that's why CD Projekt Red created the RED engine because the Aurora was too inadequate to produce what they wanted in their vision.

And judging by previous BioWare games, Hawke's story isn't that complex

Lol this quote is so hypocritical, Activision gave money to Blizzard to make Diablo 3 and its gonan get more popular and better reviews 'cause Blizzard neeeded the moeny to make quality game.

Let's try this approach: You know that awesome loot system that Borderlands has? Randomized loot and a bazillion guns? Well, that's from Diablo 2. In fact, that's the reason people still play Diablo 2, and also the reason why most people who play Diablo 2 actually buy it. To trade loot online :).

Diablo 2 was released in 2000. Its simplistic 'click to kill' combat and rich loot have kept it alive all these years.

For me, as long as the graphics aren't too bad or satisfies me, I'm happy, and that's the case with DA2.

@Anathemic: in the Deep Road there is no ancient civilization, there is the dwarven civilization, which is still alive in Orzammar and Kal Sharock. And I don't see how Shepard's dreams can be compared with the visit of the Fade.
Anyway yes, Bioware seems to follow a certain path in their games. That doesn't mean the story isn't complex.
But I find TW1 story a lot complex. I wait for both DA2 and TW2 (as long as Skyrim and ME3). Good year for me.

True,  I didn't make the chart but it still conveys the main point I was trying to make. But if you want to go into specifics think of the elves as ancient civilization.

Well, they've added steamy sex scenes now in its place.
