The thread title is right, though. Content is what wins through in the end and Bioware never disappoint on that front, despite most of the forum fans apparently forgetting this fact in the run up to each new title release.

Seriously, wait for the damn PC version pics before rendering judgement. It's said to have substantially better textures and Dx11.

The Witcher 2 looks very impressive technically, and I would say that a large part of that has to do with their targeted platform, which (at this point in time) is PC only.

While DA2 will look better on a high end PC compared to consoles, I remember it being mentioned that BioWare wanted greater visual parity across all platforms.

Anyway, from what I'm seeing, DA2 visuals are pretty standard and comparable to most other recent console titles, and DA2 has never been billed as a technical marvel, so I think these comparisons are unfair.

Counter: Assassin's Creed 2

Are you suggesting that Assassins Creed 2 would be more suitible for comparison? If so then I would agree on that.

But if your stating that AC2 is a better looking game than what we have seen from the latest DA2 screenshots, I would have do dissagree with you. They are pretty comparable, and I would even say that DA2 has better looking characters.

Really? I was trying to say that AC2 managed visual parity without nerfing the graphics this badly. I've only seen console footage of ACB, and I've played AC2, and I've never thought it came anywhere near 'looking bad'. It looks brilliant. All the time.

Characters-wise, I would agree. Those close-ups of Hawke's face were fantastic. But the environment is beyond bad. R U trying to say Florence looked bad? ;)

I think most of the trouble stems from the fact that they went out of their way to state the new graphics were going to be super hot. Granted, Bioware are the kings of not coming through on announcements, but make a statement like that and obviously you have to expect to be taken up on the fact when the graphics are not been seen to be, by any definition, 'super hot'.

I suspect the reason we haven't seen many good looking shots of DAII is because DX11 PC shots have been bizarrely rare. Like most of the DAII marketing, it's as if the screenshots have been an anti-campaign, instead releasing the most poor quality, jaggedy console shots possible.

Edit: @ Clever.

Coming-to-an-agreement-high-five!

Graphics is like the last thing which I'll look when DA2 comes out.

If the graphics are not that cool, at least my PC should be able to run it.

That "IT'S ALL ABOUT THE STORY" argument is retarded, sorry. If you think this way, play some games from the 90's. Graphics aren't the top priority of most players but just saying "Yeah they are bad but they don't matter!" is stupid, you could also turn it around and say that "Yeah, story is bad, as long as graphics are good!".

I still do  re-play games from 90s, on occasion... So yeah. Graphics aren't that  important. Good games are good games.

That said, I don't think visuals are irrelevant... bad art direction can make a game less enjoyable for me. Bethesda's games, like Morrowind, Oblivion, and even Fallout 3  had such ugly character models/animations that it detracted from the experience for me. The same was true of Neverwinter Nights 2 -- the characters were... disturbing.

Bioware has never really been known for their cutting-edge graphics technology, but the graphics aren't bad either. They're good enough that I never really notice.

Try to be a bit positive people. It's all about priorities :P
Does it look blocky? Blurry? Are the characters unrecognizable? No?
Then I don't see a problem with the graphics, it's perfectly playable and visible.

Both games look great in my opinion, and I would be a fool to overlook the gameplay or story just because "it doesn't have those DX15 features".

I guess I'm just not seeing what is so bad about DA2.

It seems most of the whining about graphics is coming from the spoiled "Generation Z" crowd. To them, video games only consist of good graphics or Call of Duty.

If graphics don't mean much to folk, then why don't you just read books? after all they'd be cheaper.

You have purchased consoles/pc so that you can see the graphics and animations, I defy anyone to tell me they got their system just to read text.

The graphics imo are good, not great but good... and thats not a bad thing.

At the end of the day though, Gameplay > Graphics.

Look the game still looks better than Origins, which ive put over 300 hours into, so obviously the graphics arent my top priority. The fact that it looks even a little better makes me happy.

The real question is: bad graphics in exchange of what? no party customization, dialogue wheel and corridor areas??

First of all the graphics are not bad. And second all the demo videos posted are only on medium settings. And third who gives a crap about the witcher 2? Did anyone enjoy the witcher? Besides the pre-teens that were like, "It has nudity!!!" It could look like a real person standing there, if it sucks i wont play it period.

If graphics are all that matters to people, why don't they just watch movies? It would be much cheaper to buy Avatar once, and watch it every day.

If graphics are all that matter to you, then you're just shallow. There's no two ways about it. Substance will always out last whats on the surface. After a while, you dont even notice graphics anymore anyway, and the gameplay becomes paramount. Particularly in long RPGs.

Why people keep comparing the two games, The Witcher forum got the same discussion too and do not understand.

Yes there are rpgs but this is like comparing Call of Duty with Halo just because it is the same genre, that does not mean that they have the same mechanics.

For example the gameplay of TW 2 is action base and does not have pause, DA 2 has pause and permits a more strategic felling to it. In TW 2 we have a pre-define character to play with, DA 2 you can change almost everything about your PC. TW 2 is base in a universe written by Andrzej Sapkowski, DA 2 is base on a new IP and the list goes on. With so few good rpgs on the marketed it is a shame not to at least buy both.

And I end my post in some good parodies for the two games.

I go for both, why limit myself?, it's also the reason I stick with pc for games, they may not give a toolset but I'm pretty certain someone will release hirez textures, and to be clear, I want both graphics AND story, but currently they have to limit the former until console hardware catches up, that's a hardware fact not an insult.

I really don't see the big deal, yes you have games that look better, but guess what most still use older graphics. For Every TW2 you have you have 5 games that look like the are from "2002". And I have not seen many games that looked great to win an award purely for that. And even then ultra-real looks can still be crap, like GTA4. God you guys would love the old Atari playing basketball with Stick dudes lol.

When it comes to PC gaming short of RTS I have no use for my PC as a gaming machine. I don't like updating my machine every year. I don't have the cash for it, or the will to do it. And I find its eaiser and cheaper to get my system fixed if it breaks than it is my PC.
