Basically, this. A game can have all of the good graphics it wants but if it has lackluster story elements (characters, plot, writing) then I probably won't be very invested in it cause I won't care about playing it.

You know the biggest difference between those two games is this... witcher devs are from Poland a country that actually have a medieval period.

There's a difference between criticising/debating and just crapping on something. Remember, as was said by someone else in another thread, that BioWare work hard to give the game to us. As was also mentioned there, criticise with some tact if these are even real complaints.

To be frank, I care about graphics. I hold an expectation of games to have a certain graphical standard in this day and age (however, if a game if from a few years ago, then I'm fine if it has bad graphics compared to nowadays, for instance I love BG 1&2 as well as the old FF games).

I also expect the story and gameplay of the game to be fun and enjoyable, a truly great game excels in none of these things but does them all to a great standard. So here's the thing, I care about graphics but I think that DA2 meets the graphics standards of today. Sure it's on the lower scale of the standard, but it's still there. Not only that but, it will have great gameplay and story with it, so while it's graphics are on the lower end, they are decent enough.

Thing with the Witcher 2 is, it will have fantastic graphics, but from what I've seen from the gameplay videos, it will remain with it's lacklustre mechanics, which was the main cause of my enhanced editions remaining on my self barely played past 3 hours. Not only that, the story from what I've heard so far has left much to be desired and the roleplaying in both Witcher 1 and Witcher 2 is near non-existent beyond equipment and who you sleep with.

That being said, I'll buy both games.

My point? Graphics supplement a good game, they don't make one.

I think we're all just disappointed as we know that BioWare is capable of so much more. I think it was Mike who compared BioWare to an Olympic athlete. Well, there's a lot of pressure on Olympic athletes.

None have huds and you think they are actual in game screens?

Their official site says artwork. Next time research. The full game will probably look just as bad as the last.

Howewer, I'm not angry. She's already post another time this screenshot in this thread, and this thread isn't about how good or bad DA2 graphic is, but about the importance of graphics and other content in the game.

Baldur's Gate II is still my favourite game of all time. I wouldn't say that graphics mean nothing to me, but I don't need cutting edge graphics to thoroughly enjoy a game. As long as the graphics provide a good, suitable atmosphere and do not to detract from the story I am experiencing, I do not care in the least. Story is what matters to me. Everything else is secondary.

And why Dragon Age 2 have real time day and night cycles.  The Witcher 1 came out in 2007 and it had real time day and night cycle.  The Witcher 2 day and night cycle is amazing.

In Dragon Age 2 you have to toggle the day and night cycle through the map.  In this day and age, not incluing real time day and night cycle is just lazy.

you'd get more enjoyment out of a book then if all you care about is story.

No, you are not. I wanted to, really. I tried to play the game multiple times but just couldnt force myself to go on. I enjoyed the books but the game was painful to play.
