I have found  that I have big problems fighting Jarvia and her gang in the final battle.  It takes me at least 5 attempts before I manage it.  Does anyone have any strategies for doing this?

I am on my 3rd playthrough.  I played on Easy the first 2 games but decided to give Normal a try.  I may try Hard and Nightmare in future if I think I can handle them.  I'm on the PC if it makes a difference.

My party members are:

PC rogue
Wynne
Sten
Shale

I'm using Wynne as a healer where necessary otherwise I am focusing on my rogue.  I managed to disabled the first trap last attempt but STILL got knocked over before I was allowed to disable it.

Is it possible to use the Revival spell more than once per battle? I have figured out how to ue it but it seems to take forever to reset itself, and Wynne always gets knocked out before I can use it more than once on a fallen party member, whereas waiting for emore than one person to get knocked out means less fmanpower in the fight and doesn't account for characters falling down in different areas of the room.

Put Shale into Stoneheart mode. Have her attack Jarvia. Micromanage her to taunt Jarvia as much as possible. Micromanage Wynne's heal to keep Shale up to full health. Use Wynne's group heal to heal everyone else. Have Wynne cast regenerate on Shale whenever it comes up.

You and Sten should be double teaming everyone else one by one. By now you should know where the traps are. Avoid them. Use the columns to block archers' line of sight, that will draw them closer to you so you can kill them. If a gangbanger stealths, move to the next target. When most or all of the low lifes are dead, have everyone attack Jarvia.

The fight takes a fair amount of micro management, but it's doable.

Generally in a fight you either want to take the big bad out first or take everyone else out first. If you think you have a great deal of firepower and can stun well, then go after the big bad first. Otherwise, take out the trash and then go after the big bad.

One minor thought, if Sten has sweep, then try to coordinate your rogues sweep with his. Often times you can take out three or more baddies between you at the same time.

Park Sten in front of the baddies and park your rogue behind for backstabby joy.

I just defeated Jarvia with my archer rogue on the Nightmare difficulty (with Orzammar being the first place that I visited, because I want to take Oghren into the fade at the Circle Tower), so while it was difficult, here is the strategy I used:

In the beginning, you want to take out the melee NPCs first as quickly as possible before Jarvia joins the battle. Once she's in, make sure your tank picks up aggro. Once Jarvia disappears, I put my party on hold so that they don't chase her into her traps (I just let her shoot my group for a bit since her ranged damage isn't hard to heal through). With my rogue, I killed the remaining archers by myself, and let the rest of my party focus on Jarvia (she will eventually stop shooting and start attacking your party at melee range again).

I think a few more melee NPCs spawn, so be sure to take them out before focusing on Jarvia again. Once she's alone, she's easy to defeat.

The battle takes quite a bit of micro-management (well, especially in my case since it was on Nightmare, and my characters were only around level 8-9, lol), but definitely manageable.

With more range in your group you can use the stop movement, let them come to you. also, heroic defense turns the traps in to no damage knockdowns.

The basic problem is that you have the wrong party for that area... a flexible party that can fight at range would make this battle much easier.

Yeah, I need to use ranged attacks more, I tend to find that my characters get attacked if they carry bows though so I usually go with the basis of 2 warriors, a rogue and a mage.

Also consider using a bomb or two on her. It shaves quite a bit of her health.

I'll try that anothe timee. I can't always seem to get bombs to work somehow.
