Am I blind or do the Rogue auto-attack animations look really awkward?

Judge for yourself.  Something is off about them.  I don't know, it seems like she's attempting to dice up fruits and vegetables with those strokes.  And why spend so much effort spin-jump-kicking something every five seconds?  The mechanics look really fun and I'm glad the awkward shuffling is mostly gone, but the animations are just off-putting.  They look like they're straight out of an anime.  I vastly preferred the DA:O animations (especially the backstab animation, which had a lot of weight in it).

Of course, there is always the possibility that I am blind, and I don't even know it.  So which is it?

She's an aspiring cook? Maybe that's what the Champion of Kirkwall is all about...

Yeah, that spin kick looks extremely awkward and unnecessary.

It's all a bit too over the top.

It looks like none of her attacks are actually hitting the targets and she`s just spinning her arms around so her companions don`t get mad at her for not helping out during the fight.

Yeah, the only attack that actually connects with the target is backstab.  You can see her pull the blade out of the Ogre's back.

The bomb/flask kicking is pretty much my biggest gripe with DA2, not even joking.

Wow. Yet another thread dedicated to ****ing a miniscule detail. Imagine that.

It makes no sense whatsoever.  You have less accuracy and less power.  Why would you throw it in the air, spin, then kick it 5 feet in front of you?  It seems like the animators forgot they were animating human beings and completely ignored the context of how the character would actually fight.

I think it would look really great if it was a game about ninjas.

Yeah, that was sorta how it seemed to me as well. I'm sure I'll get over it though when I'm actually playing the game.

The flask-kicking is a bit silly too. I wish they'd made it a once-in-a-while animation for that attack, and have you just lob it at the enemies the majority of the time.

So an animation that I will be seeing for 40-50 hours is a miniscule detail?  Think before you talk.  What a lack of objectivity.  You probably play a Mage or Warrior, don't you?  (Don't both lying, no one will believe you.)

It would be an amazing fighting style in Jade Empire.  No doubt.

Meh, won't ruin the game for me. At least it's better than the boring "stand 'n poke" animations from Origins. ^_^

Yeah, it seems they were trying too hard to make rogues look "cool".

Actually all the new animations look silly to me, I dont know if I can deal with all that twirling and jumping for 30 plus hours. Hopefully the story will keep me engaged,Bioware has yet to dissapoint me on that front.

Yep, rogue animations were a bit over the top... I hope they reduce it on next installments of the game.

I have to agree with what has been said. I don't like the spin kicking of the bomb at all. Here's hoping male Hawke doesn't do that but I imagine he will, oh well. The jumping around is a bit annoying as well but as has been said it is better than the animations for Dragon Age Origins.

They just took things a bit too far. The warrior attacks look pretty good from the few vids I've seen so I think I'll start off as a warrior, which I do in every rpg, but I had planned to start a rogue first.
