How and why are people saying this game is not very long and not the time promised by the devs?  Take a look at my current time statistics.

Because people like to rush through a game as fast as they can then claim it didn't live up to the length they were promised.

Yep, I'm at around 40 hours, too, and can see the game easily doubling that considering what I have left. I've barely scratched the main plot, it would seem.

It's fairly long but if you knew what to do and where to do it it's certainly possible to pull an ironman. Not that I'm complaining frankly it's a great game, there'd better be freakin' expansions though, good god.

Same here, probably somewhere between 30 and 40 hours logged and I'm probably just over halfway through the main quest. But I spend alot of time wandering around just absorbing the world and actually listen to the dialouge and read the codex, so.... yeah, if you are just pressing "1" all the time and not listening and just rushing through all the zones, it probably doesn't take so long.

Took me around 45 hours on my first play through which is a decent time for any RPG but then add on the fact that I will be playing through with with multiple characters and that time reaches 100+ hours.

Hopefully, future DLC will make it even longer. Xpac anyone? :D

I skipped alot of side quests, alot. I really wanted to know what the ending was going to be like, fighting the final boss and all. I plan to make another character and do EVERYTHING before finishing up the game.

Yeh, I really gotta wonder about people like that. I'm up to over 48 hours currently on the 360 version, and I haven't really been "taking my time". In fact, I usually take the view in games like this that the main quest is "important" for me to actively follow and not become too sidetracked since, well... The world NEEDS saving, and I'm the one to do it!

Considering I've payed the same 70 bux for games that only last 10-12 hours I consider this game to be a HUGE value, and will continue to purchase DLC whenever it is released.

This title is so far ahead of anything else on the market right now, I really don't understand why so many feel the need to nitpick. Sure some aspects may not be perfect, or could be improved upon but these are molehills my friends. Not mountains!

I don't know how some of you are getting only 40 hours at completion, to be honest. My first run through, I clocked about 70 hours. I'm experienced with this type o game, too, so it's not like I just fumbled through and had to restart a bunch of times. Granted, I did about 90% of the side quests, but still.

Is everyone else rushing through the dialogue or something? My second run through will probably take longer, to be honest, because I know more about gifts and the character development. This time around, I've spent many hours chilling in camp just talking to my party mates and learning their stories (first time around, I had the same party makeup the entire game and only developed relationships with like 2-3 of the NPCs and I only started realizing their relationships about half way through the game).

As an aside, I find it hilarious, and awesome, that everyone is already demanding xpacs and new DLC. Means I'm not the only obsessive freak here. :D

I agree with this post 1000%.  I remember the BF buying assassin's creed when it first came out.  He loved it, but the boy was done with that game in about two days, clocking in at about 10 or so hours.  I felt a little ripped off, since it cost us some 60 bucks.

This game, on the other hand, SO much to do, different every time you play it, promise of more content in the future, undoubtedly will have several expansion packs...

To be honest, I am convinced that the people who **** about ridiculous things like, "oh noes, we only have 4 different models for wands!!!!!!!" are just looking or something to **** and gripe about.  That's the type of customer who won't ever be happy.  Me?  I bought the collector's edition guide AFTER I beat the game once, bringing my spending on this game to about 80-90 bucks, and I think it was well worth every penny.  So far, it equates to less than a dollar per hour for me.

I think I was around 50hrs on my first go (and around 49% completion), and I did stop to listen to every conversation and read all the codex entries; even got the 75%+ side quests achivement. I honestly would have liked the game to be a little longer, just one or two more 'chapters' to bulk out the later half and it'd be great, but it was still well worth the money spent and i'm having great fun on round 2 already.

And after that it could've been 2-3 times longer. And after that 2-3 times longer. And after that 2-3 times longer. I think you get the idea.

I find all these reponses interesting, because I beat the game after about 50 hours of gameplay with about, oh... 60+% completed. I don't remember the exact stats, but pretty completionist for a first time through. Honestly, I thought Baldur's Gate 2 and Morrowind both had much more content for a first playthrough than DA:O did.

I'm about 1/4 of the way through my second playthrough, and I haven't noticed much different other than different endings to a couple quests. We'll see how things progress, though, as I have unlocked some sidequests that I didn't get on my first playthrough.

Indeed. The percentage doesn't refer to how much of the game you've done, but how many achievements you've gotten. If you managed to do all possible quests/side quests in a single playthrough, you'd still have a lower percentage than someone who did all the origins, used gifts to sleep with and dump three teammates, rushed to the end, and then did the four possible endings despite the fact that they missed a large portion of the game.

I just passed the 60 hour mark. I'm pretty sure I'm near the end of the game, but I still have plenty of quests to do.

I'm currently at 30% completion with 55% of the world explored at I've clocked up over 50 hours. For £25, this makes me a very happy bunny indeed. I think I'm close to finishing the main plot for the first time so I'm not indulging in sidequests are re-exploring places now I have my lock pick skill up and am hunting for codexes so I have much more play left in the game<3 I'm also planing what to play as in my second run through.

Amazing value for money. I remember laughing when people said Mass Effect was a long game as I completed it in a single 32 hour sitting and I remembered how long games like Baldurs gate and Planescape: Torment were. Though I should reply Mass Effect since my brother deleted my save... ;_;

I found doing the sidequest areas in a certain order helps.  I also read every codex entry, and listen to conversations etc. Really enjoying the game.

The armor is starting to get overwhelming, there is quite a bit more than I though.  Yeah 4 types with different materials but then there are different kinds of each so it's adding up. (I hate equipment..I tend to get stuck outfitting my party for awhile)
