Man, that guy is a genius. It took Goerge Lucas 30 years to ruin the Star Wars franchise. Mac Walters laughs in his face! "I can do it in 3", he says.

He even has a conversation with
someone mentioning how close they are to the Terminus Systems. No
explanation of how he knew where Illium was, or how he knew what the
Terminus Systems are.

Did the Terminus Systems even exist at that point? I thought they were formed when the Batarian Hegemony secceded from Citadel Space?

This comic sounds like complete bullsh*t, i'm glad I ain't a comic fan and didn't waste good money on this crap.

Agreed!..... and I´m a comic fan and that´s the reason, why I didn´t waste money for that crap!!!

The thing is, it doesn't bode well for ME3, does it now?

I would argue that the General Williams thing isn't completely inaccurate. When TIM asked General Williams if they could take the troop transport he said "we're leaving it anyway". It was clear that they were getting the hell of Shanxi and that's why TIM only had 20 hours to find the artifact.

I don't see how Desolas being a general changes anything.

It isn't stated that they know it's a "reaper" artifact. Who knows their depth of knowledge on the subject. Saren doesn't seem well informed about it at all. The most likely outcome here is that TIM will stop Desolas (thereby making #2 accurate) and Saren will pick up where his brother left off. After all, we don't know how long Saren was preparing before Eden Prime.

Revelation clearly states that Saren was preparing to utilize the "alien" ship at that time, when he became aware of how advanced its technology was. This is I believe 10 years prior to Eden Prime.

But does Desolas know that the artifact is of the "Reapers"?

It's entirely possible that they're trying to create an army of husks or some other motivation and they don't know yet.

I read the comic, and yeah....I'll just say it's a comic and has a bunch of unreasonable bull**** in it.

1) Gen. Williams didn't 'surrender'; simply forced to ceasefire because the Alliance and Citadel intervened. Just like OP said he left because he wouldn't have it. I guess the news stories then probably said he 'surrendered' to give him a bad name.

2) Saren and Desolas (Saren's brother, and Turian General) being tracked to Illium just like that? That Prothean/Reaper cipher TIM was exposed to made TIM learn about the entire galaxy? I thought Humans were 'new' to the galaxy? And they somehow go through several mass-relays unnoticed. And Jack (TIM) can now somehow speak to Asari in their natural language, know about the extranet, fly their cars...

3) And that ending with the husk, wat.

Idk, it wasn't that great of a comic but I want to definitely read issue 3 now.

Mac Walters is a hack.

I've been saying this for a while now and people are still trying to deny it. And now he's going back and mauling everything Drew K. established.

Precisely this.

No, that is of course a good point that is entirely possible. The confusion I personally have is that Saren comes across Sovereign in Revelations and is intrigued by the effects the ship has on the people that have been researching it - as in he'd never seen anything like it before. It seems to me that the husks in the comic by all means are under the same sort of effect, therefore making Saren's Sovereign descovery kinda inconsistent.

But yeah, again, that is a very good point you bring up! :)

Apparently he's Lead Writer of ME3.

That is to say, don't hold your breath for ME3 storywise.

Well, I agree with that much. It's not perfect but it's not as horrible as the OP would like to think. I'm just trying to be objective. I'm glad someone reasonable is reading this thread.

Exposition is something Walters seriously and desperately lacks. I can't tell if that's really the case or it's simply the inability to include details in a comic, since comics are typically not that detailed. In any case, I was never happy with the idea of "comics" involving the Mass Effect universe.

You would be surprised by the level of detail a talented writer can get into a comic. Watchmen, 300, TMNT (original series, not the disneyfied versions they have these days) all had a good amount of detail in them. But as I said, it actually requires talent.

Nice, more freaking retcons... just what the series needed. I'm seriously nervous for the fate of the story in the third game.

I think people are being harsh. In the same ways the storyline (and pretty much everything about the) books wrote by Drew aren't nearly as quality as the games storyline, the stoyrline of comics wrote by Mac aren't as good as the games storyline. They're obviously not great, but it's a bit early to start saying ME3 will have a dreadful story. ME2's storyline wasn't as good as the first games, but I still wouldn't call it bad.

Also, there's a reason I don't own the comics.

Anyway, the Mac insults are harsh and immature. Give the guy a break lol.

Also, if you are saying Ashley has her views because of Shanxi wouldn't be a retcon...she actually says that in the first game. Her Grandfather being xenophobic because of it is unsuprising.

ME3 being an atrocity of witing is pretty much gauranteed with this hack in charge, though the real question is will it be a Highlander 2 style atrocity and totally destroy the franchise?
