Much more deep and with an awesome story and characters, this will be the game to take the throne from BGII. just look at how amazingly relevant and deep the skill tree looks, compared to the redundant and overfilled mess that was BGII abilities.

In any direction, it all comes down to a matter of opinion. Guess what? Most people have different opinions. This thread is invalid.

In that case, about 30% of all the threads on this board are invalid.

The Law of Lowest Common Denominator says complex and difficult games will not be developed anymore except for niche market (Flight Sims).

In the late 80' PC games were nerdy stuff. Nerds wanted to use brains in games. There were tons of strategy games and flight sims. Devs made nerdy games for PC and games for ADHDs and kids in consoles.

Then masses came to the PC gaming and said "this is too difficult, this is too difficult, this is too difficult, this is too difficult, this is too difficult, this makes me feel bad, this makes me feel bad, this makes me feel bad, this makes me feel bad. I want to just have fun, I want to just have fun, I want to just have fun, I want to just have fun, I want to just have fun, oneshotting is fun, oneshotting is fun, one shotting is fun, oneshotting is fun, one shotting is fun, one shotting is fun, one shotting is fun, I don't want to use brains when I play, I don't want to use brains when I play, I don't want to use brains when I play, I don't want use brains when I play, I just want continuous rewards in some form, I just want to have continuous rewards in some form, I just want to have continuous rewards in some form, I can't focus, I can't focus, I can't focus, I can't focus, I can't focus I JUST WANT TO BE OP, ONESHOT, AND HAVE SEX WITH PIXEL DOLLS I CAN PICK LIKE SOME SEX DOLLS. ME HERO MAH BELLY IS THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE.

And so DA2 was born.

Lol sorry but it is at first obvious and second inevitable.

I take it you haven't ever heard of so called bell curve or standard distribution (dunno the word in English).

Like in chess and like in sports, majority of people are just average. Then there are those who are bad, and those who are exceptionally good.

The games are not done to those who are exceptionally good since they are only a small percentage of customer base. The games are done for averages. And as a direct concequence the games will be then just ez for exceptional players. Dumbed down in their eyes even though the majority (averages) feel they are not since they are still enjoying the challenge.

This is a fact. Some may say it is cruel fact, I don't say so, it is just how the world works in gaming.

Thos who still think BG2 is the best game ever suffer from a sever case of nostalgia.

u can live in denial

I don't care of it because it is you and even if you would not live in denial the law of Lowest Common Denominator does not change :)

Edit: So me playing DA2 on "normal" difficulty level would be about as challenging as if I would do MX racing against kids. It would be just <_< or meh or -_- or :? or  or  or  or :crying: or :o or :(, not likely that because I like so much MX I would not be sad.

I certainly still consider BG II to be the best game ever. However, that is referring to the original experience I had with the game back in the day. I replayed it a while back and that just wasn't the same. Can DA II match that first BG II experience for me? I doubt it but it doesn't matter as long the experience is a good one of which I am very confident.

Well BG with old Fallouts (and IL-2) are the only games where I can feel a bit I am now in some very dangerous and deadly situations where I need to do everything right or I die.

That makes BG totally superior to kiddy DA for me. DA is just a facerolling walk in a park.

Edit: I don't even have to worry if someone dies. There is no challange "Ultimate Tactician - None in your Team never died", and it is enough if only one person survives the fight. WTF?

It does not. It is just something to think to those who blame good players of "elitism" when they want games be challenging.

If all I could do would be to play comp games with no challenge, urgh, well.....would hurt!

Personally I can't play BG2 anymore due to the fact that I now have a 23 inch wide screen monitor and the screen stretches BG2 and makes everything look too wide :(

Luckily there are mods available that will allow the game to be played on widescreen while smoothing out the graphics, they also have mods to keep the speed of the game running smoothly on the new systems.  A simple search should cure your woe's.

Let's see here... Assuming everyone who likes simple games is somehow dumber than people who like more complex games, immediatley assuming that you're among the "exceptionally smart" and ignoring the concept of difficulty levels and niche markets.
I'm assuming you're a troll since you atleast know what a bell curve is and it's more polite than assuming you're an idiot.

I'm pretty sure they scrapped the whole "spiritual successor to BGII." You know, because EA didn't own Bioware when it came out and we can't have an amazing game attributed to EA and possibly lifting its reputation, absolutely not. Plus BGII's graphics sucked!!!!! WHY CAN'T EVERY GAME BE CRYSIS!!!

I guess a conceited person would see it that way.

Btw, that is me telling someone they think way too highly of their gaming abilities. Going so far as to spouting some self-conceited theory on how games are now less than in an effort to pander to the masses that don't want to use their brains in games, or in other words are stupider. Making one's self, quite frankly, look like an ****.

OP: I doubt it, for quite a lot of people. Not because DA2 will be a bad game (fingers crossed), or even because BG was the best game EVAH (er, even though it was definitely one of them ;)), but because the nostalgia factor is huuuuge. BG was the game that got me into gaming as a 'proper' hobby rather than just a casual thing, so my affection for it is almost limitless. In 15 years time, there will quite possibly be those saying the same thing about the Dragon Age series and believe me, nothing else will ever quite compare. x

Dunno about you but the graphics in BG2 were amazing and still are, notice that there are no reused areas in the game whatsoever, even the generic forest areas were radically different from one another. Every single area was handcrafted like a painting, try walking into one of the temples in the temple district and you'll see what I mean.
