I've never played Baldur's Gate or Baldur's Gate II. So I could care less.

*hides from angry mob of BG fanboiz*

I haven't either. I'm fairly certain that it is some kind of video game sin. I briefly played one of the Baldur's Gate games on the PS2 at a friend's, but I can't remember which.

And I started gaming about 11 years ago, so it is old for me. :D

The BG Dark Alliance on PS2 was rubbish. They are referring to BG2: Shadows of Amn for PC

Blasphemy! :devil:J.E is a greatly underappreciated game. 'Tis awesome! <3

Never said it isn't. Worst since Jade Empire means that ME1, ME2, DAO all will be better than DA2, but that doesn't mean DA2 will be a bad game

If it is as good as Origins or better, consider Baldur's Gate replaced. If not then my hope rests with DA3. I think the Dragon Age series as a whole does succeed Baldur's Gate anyway. After ten years I can only say about ****inig time!

Ah Minsc, how I miss you and Boo. I just wish we can find someone like thee, just not as obsessive to be good. Don't make me turn my sword on you once again my butt-kicking buddy.

And considering that the world its set in is build from scratch, and not unlike Forgotten Realms for BG series envokes even more respect.

Baldur's Gate ..... PS2

Oh hell no.... let it be noted that those abominations that came out on the PS2 WERE NOT the true Baldurs Gate games and werent fit to have said name printed on the box....

That is all.

I knew that the thread wasn't about the PS2 games but like it or not they still have the name tag.

Jade Empire rocked so I agree with Matchy there. Never played BGII so no comparison but I'm looking forward to this all the same.

Much more deep and with an awesome story and characters, this will be the game to take the throne from BGII. just look at how amazingly relevant and deep the skill tree looks, compared to the redundant and overfilled mess that was BGII abilities.

Why are you trolling? You can't possibly believe this, and if you do then all i can say is: www.youtube.com/watch

Considering DA:O was the spiritual successor to KotOR and an homage to Dungeon Siege 2, I doubt DA2 will be anything like the BG series.

A shame, but just like adventure games, the true trun-based party-combat western cRPG has died long ago.

Sure, in a decade, the visuals, the stats, the abilities and everything will have improved.

But the depth of story and characters? Not so much.

Hopefully DA2 will be good for at least a playthrough, but it's a very different game aimed at a very different audience, an RPG-lite designed specifically to bring in the casuals crowd. .

Multiple times. But how exactly is DA:O a homage to Dungeon Siege 2 ?

DS2 is nothing like DA:O, DS2 isn't even a cRPG. Its more akin to diablo than BG or DA:O. You crazy.

Well, I thought Origins was better than BG2 so this doesn't sound too hard to accomplish.

So sick of hearing about the wonderfulness that was Minsc and Boo. They weren't funny. They were obviously meant to be but they epic failed.

Posted on the old forums by David Gaider on the 28th of March 2007, regarding Dragon Age: Origins:

"This game is the spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate 2, NWN and KotOR."

(My bold text to put emphasis on my point)
