Yeah, almost as hilarious as a robot that constantly calls humans meatbags. Oh man, so hysterical! Haha! Wow, I might just injure myself from the pure comedy.
Tell us something you find funny then.

You'll need graph paper, though; they didn't dumb games down with automapping back in the day.

Agreed.
But what I've seen so far of DA2 seems more like a 'spiritual successor' to games like Bayonetta, Assassin's Creed, God of War, Devil May Cry etc. I'm just not feeling 'RPG' at all.
The vast majority of the console crowd wouldn't like a game like BG2 at all, so yes, many of them are going to think this is better. Because it's comparing apples and oranges.

I'm aware that my opinion is a minority (non-existent?) one. But whatever, this whole debate about BG2 versus everything else is so stale. I played BG2 several years after it came out. Thought it was very good, but this pedestal it's placed on is ridiculous. There were some major flaws with the game and I thought there were plenty of things that Origins did better.

So you don't get the jokes. Sucks to be you, I guess. Any RPG characters that you do consider to be funny? Unintentional is fine.
Not that I'm a huge fan of Mincs myself. But he was OK, and so was HK-47.

Come on, I know that bashing DA2 and claming it is not an RPG is the cool thing to do but why do people compare it to hack and slash games? From the gameplay videos we have seen DA2 is just as much an RPG as DA:O and older "true" RPGs. Faster gameplay =/= hack and slash.

Don't think "Who cares, it's an old game, it will probably look poor, I won't waste my time with that fossil".
It's a milestone. A must play for fans of the genre.
If you ignore it because of prejudices, it's your loss.
As for the Minsc thing, I suppose it got annoying because it has been overused in forums and reviews, etc., like the "meatbag" thing from KOTOR. Or the "enchantment!" thing from DAO.
God, I hate memes.

What is your basis for this? Just because the combat is more fast-paced? Whatever, I'm gonna put more trust in the PC Gamer review as they're the only guys other than BW employees to play the full game. And you know what PCG says? That DA2 combat is more tactical than Origins and tremendous fun.

I can't think of any humorous characters Bioware has written that deserve the level of attention they get on the forums a decade after the jokes were worn threadbare. Let me see...well, I suppose I can go with the obvious. Mordin made me smile a few times, especially with his rendition of Modern Major General. Although that wasn't really supposed to be "haha" funny, nor was it my precise reaction really.

If DA:O had been 300 hours long it would have been better than BG2. BG2 was a good RPG but what made it epic was for once the fact that the protagonist was child of a god and the game describes the very long way to succeed him. There was nothing 'deeper' in BG2, just longer. The characters were actually not even as deep as in DA:O. You didn't even have something like 'hardening' companions. You also had only one companion quest. Only thing maybe is that you had alignment. Like Karma in FO:NV. If you get into the negative Karma region Cass tells you that you are a jerk and leaves. And about same happened in BG2 if you went too far in the opposite alignment of some companions. People are just being nostalgic. BG2 had 2D graphics, which were beautiful, but you hardly had cutscenes either. And you had no VO. You had to read every single word. And it had enough things to complain about, just as DA:O or any other game. BG2 'cultists' have a subjective view when it comes to their object of worship.A Turkey Frog wrote...
To be honest I've never played any of the Baldurs Gate games, but from what I've heard they are amazing, so I can't really compare them to DA2. I'm sure DA2 will be a fantastic game, and maybe better that ME2. With that said my favorite rpg of all time is Final Fantasy IV.

Its how it all started and the context he uses the phrase that makes it funny. However your sense of funny seems be different than mine. I wouldn't call it comedy gold, but its worth a chuckle.
