Your Favorite Squadmate's Favorite Squadmate

You probably know your favorite character very well, so even with limited interaction between squadmates you must have some idea of who among the team they respect the most.
Suggestions I've gotten so far:
Tali -> Garrus
Jack -> Miranda
Liara -> Miranda
Legion -> Tali
Liara -> Tali

Liara's favourite squadmate? Hmm. Interesting. I'm going to vote for
Miranda, as I believe that some form of mutual trust, respect and
appreciation developed between the pair of them at the end of
Redemption, during which Miranda placed a comforting hand on Liara's
shoulder. Furthermore, whilst Liara would disagree with some of
Miranda's methods, I think she would also appreciate her ability to
command loyalty through her experience, and the fact that she is able to
successfully operate her own network of contacts and agents.
So yeah, I believe that Liara's favourite squadmate would be Miranda.

To reiterate what I said on the poll, my sense is that their surface rivalry masks an undercurrent of mutual appreciation. Even if that is more of an impression and difficult to prove, I still think the fact that they clearly enjoy unleashing on one another implies either a friendly rivalry or a combative friendship.
I think they're both wary of letting others in. 'Testing' people and being initially stand-offish seems to be true of them both - they certainly both do both with Shepard. A friendship based on bickering and trading jibes seems coherent for them both.

1. Jacob & Legion - They're both a couple of patriot troopers, but since they come from opposite sides of a war, their loyalty to their respective side would cause them to clash.
2. Garrus & Thane - Probably the most likely to get on. A couple of lonely snipers with an intensly personal moral code.
3. Jack & Grunt - Both are orphans. Both the product of experimentation to develop a super-soldier. Both full of rage. Will either be best friends or worst enemies.
There's also some pairings of character that are similar, but not identical:
1. Miranda & Jacob/Legion - Though Miranda will never be as loyal to a cause or group as Jacob and Legion, like them she's all about the job. Her work is her life. These are the "dependable" characters.
2. Zaeed & Morinth - Both have a lust for life, live it to the fullest, and are totally immoral. Zaeed's getting old so maybe he wouldn't mind going out with a bang via a little Ardat-Yakshi bunga-bunga.
And for one last, how about "opposites attract":
1. Samara & Tali: They couldn't be more different - Samara, the primitive, almost reptilian huntress and Tali, the clever intellectual chess-master. Tali outwits the enemy through strategy and then Samara delivers the final death blow.

I see them as sharing an anti-intellectualism: They could bond by making catty comments about how much they don't like Tali.

In exactly what way is Tali intellectual? In exactly what way is Miranda not intellectual?

Miranda was the head of a research project that made the most important medical breakthrough in the history of mankind. I would agree that she is an intellectual. Although to my knowledge she never comments on her educational background, I think is a safe assumption that she has a doctorate.
Although as an engineer Tali wouldn't be lacking upstairs either, I think it's a safe bet that Miranda is the smarter of the two. I mean head researcher of a project that made the most important medical breakthrough in the history of mankind kind of trumps being an engineer without any major accomplishments under her belt.

I think of quarians in general as intellectual because of their dependence on technology to survive, both personally with the suits, and the Migrant Fleet as a whole, and Tali seems to be a normal quarian in that respect.
Tali's father was a researcher and she's an engineer good at AI hacking, electronics, and decryption, and of course, she operates her loyal drone Chiktikka vas Paus.
Her focus is on strategy and I think of her as kind of a spy.
Miranda did supervise Project Lazarus, but as many people can attest to from real life, you don't have to be an intellectual to be a manager. She comes off a superficially smart, but she seems to me be naive about Cerberus and the Illusive Man's "dark side". I see her as a hard worker, but not clever enough to be wary to Cerberus' shadowy machinations.
Miranda is an organizer and manager, but can't see the big picture.

Also, I distinguish between "intellectual" and "intelligent". I don't think of Tali as smarter than Miranda, but more "contemplative".

Miranda was the head of a project that made the most important medical breakthrough in the history of mankind. She wouldn't have been in that position if she didn't also have the required level of education and a head for the science. It's not quite as simple as just having managerial skills.
Sure, she's a bit gullible when it comes to Cerberus. But naivety isn't a necessarily a sign of a lack of intelligence. And Tali was no less gullible. She gets duped by father in helping him bring active Geth aboard the Migrant Fleet and she gets duped by Saren in ME1.

also
Garrus->Tali (dem elevators)
Jacob->Miranda
Zaeed->Grunt (Grunt loves those war stories from uncle Zaeed)
Kasumi->Jacob ("mhmm that Jacob")
Legion->Garrus (sniping competition,Garrus could teach him how to no-scope like a pro)
Thane->Kasumi (sneaking competition)
also I could see
Zaeed->Jack ("We could use a destructive little **** like that when we droped in the Krogan DMZ....")
Samara->Jacob

Garrus -> Tali: This seems to be accepted almost as established fact. They have history together and there's some friendly teasing between the two.
Grunt -> Jack: Grunt doesn't interact with the others too much, but if you take Grunt along in Jack's recruitment mission, he is amused and impressed by her capacity for destruction.
Jack -> Miranda: I tend to agree with what people have said about this. At the very least she seems to enjoy getting on Miranda's nerves.
Jacob -> Miranda: They have history together and get along well.
Kasumi -> Jacob: I don't know how I ended up with this impression, but it seems to be pretty common here and I think it fits. Although, all l I remember happening between the two is her feeling sympathy for Jacob after his father died.
Legion -> Tali: If you resolve their little impasse they seem to get along. Plus she's one of the creators and the geth seem to hold them in a different regard than other organics.
Miranda -> Jacob: They've been colleagues for a while and they have the most interaction out of any two squadmates.
Mordin -> Garrus: Mordin's a difficult one, but since he and Garrus both spent time trying to clean up Omega I think there's respect between them. They probably knew one another by reputation on Omega before meeting.
Morinth -> Jack: Morinth seems to be attracted to strong personalities.
Samara -> Morinth: Samara has a great deal of admiration for Morinth, calling her the smartest of her daughters. Of course, she does kill her, but only with a great deal of regret.
Tali -> Garrus: As I said, the whole brother-sister thing they've got going on is pretty well established.
Thane -> Samara: They're both loners, they're both parents, they seem like they'd click.
Zaeed -> Jack: The line Null_ mentioned is all I've got to go on.
So, after some examination it would appear that Jack is the most popular person in Shepard's team. Who'd have thunk it? This is just my interpretation of the characters, though.

Kasumi got 2 lines about him that come up randomly when you talk with her
"mhmm that Jacob"
"You think Jacob likes Japaneese girls with tendency for kleptomania?"
Monrith/Jack fits perfectly. Why I havent thought about that before

After completing Lair of the Shadow Broker you can also access some of the old Shadow Broker's dossiers on your squad mates. Kasumi's contains this Haiku that she wrote:
Breathless, glinting skin
Muscles working in rhythm
Cloaked desire watches
Looking at me now
His indifferent eyes smile
I am a puddle
Beautiful and good
Punishing with his kindness
Jacob is perfect
Basically Kasumi wants to shag the biggest douche on your squad. She's got terrible taste.

She's very experienced, deadly in combat but still not a dumb killing machine but someone with intellect and philosophy. And she's calm. If she'd have been with him on his Loyality mission he wouldn't have shot Sidonis.
He's good with Tahne and Mordin as well, because they are similar personalities to himself.

Honestly, I think her favourite of Shepard's squadmates would have to be Grunt.
He's simple, he's immature and he likes to blow sh*t up.
He's also the most unlikely to try and use her and he's blunt and to the point with his thoughts/motivations.
I can honestly see the two of them getting into all kinds mischief with Jack egging him on like an easily-influenced little brother (courtesy of Mondo)
