As are people who make statement like this one.
I agree with Maria. Bioware is known for their snark. It stands out, people laugh. But I don't need the other dialog options to be less appealing, and often times they are.
Which basically leaves the player steering toward a snarky character.

Wait, now I'm confused, you think mages suck, you feel bad about Bethany dying, but you'll play mage anyway?
Why is this?I still think you want Carver

sarcasm is my answer to douchery
Such a shame text doesn't do the art of sarcasm any justice.
But then again, I wouldn't want Maria Caliban of the BSN to think I'm a douche. Thank god
yes then it would be the end of your world if that were to happen.
anyway, as for being a Sarcastic Hawke, yes occasionally I would be but if something tragic is happening I wont make a joke about it. then Maria would be right, I would be a douche.
Like Aristotle says everything in moderation. Sarcasm in moderation

Actually, this is the first time they've allowed you to be consistently sarcastic. And you're also saying Bioware deliberatly makes the sarcasting choices the 'best' ones to railroad your gaming experience?
oh please.

Though in serious situations, like someone dying or similar I'll choose the nice/diplomatic option.
Does anyone know if the dialogue choices you make during Varric's exaggeration count when you're playing what really happened? So if I choose sarcastic twice at the start of the game is my overall tone sarcastinc once I start playing the unexaggerated part?

Everything is the keyword here.
And we already know there's 2 icons in the saracsting position, for those situations where a classic line of snark would make you seem like an ass. So it shouldn't be a problem.

No, I'm saying that's their predisposition. And apparently you haven't played ME2. At any rate, the tone of your posts pretty well proves Maria's point.

No, what you mean to say is, I disagree with you, and have done so in the past on many occasions, and that is in fact what makes me a douche.
Can see through you like it was nothing.

Okay, let's break this into points:
1- You hate mages.
2- You feel bad about Bethany's death.
That means you wouldn't want to play a mage, but you're going for it anyway so that leaves the last deciding factor.
3- Carver.
You do want Carver in your party, unless you're using your manipulative desire demon personality right now <_<

I don't post often enough.
I use sarcasm a lot. It's the only form of humour (that, and it's dark, brooding brother cynicism) I do well, so I let it seep into my personality, and now it's fused to it.
I write in my spare time, yet I'm finding more and more difficulty writing characters that aren't sarcastic, or don't make sarcastic comments occasionally (just as I have difficulty writing dim-witted characters).
Hell, I'm the kind of player who makes sarcastic comments while playing games, as if I were my character, despite the fact the only other living beings in the room are my dog and cats.
There's plenty of things I say that aren't sarcastic -this post, for one- but it is *very* difficult to resist making sarcastic comments when the opportunity is just there, laying about.
I also like to think of myself as relatively un-douchy, though many a douchebag would disagree with me.

Compelling reasons not to play a mage. That means you wouldn't want to play a mage...
Possibly. That's what I'd planned for a long time before I saw Bethany die....but you're going for it anyway...
1. The place of mages in the story?...so that leaves the last deciding factor...
2. The appropriateness of the child of an apostate whose related to the human mage Warden to be a mage?
3. The fact that mages in DA II can wear pants and have melee attacks?
4. What companions I'm most interested in adventuring with?
Oh. That's an interesting guess.3- Carver.

Aren't those all meta-game decisions? Why would the Bethany/Carver issue be the only one?
