"unsatisfying ending"

Ending will be sold as DLC. No offense - I'll buy it anyway. Game and all DLC.

Btw, I don't see how you could be worried about skill progression after the one review. We've all seen how there's 8 talent trees total for Hawke with 10 - 11 abilities/upgrades/passives each. Depending on how many talent points we get outside of levelling and how specialisation points work, we'll probably only get get 20 - 25 talent points to spent on the 60 - 80 talents available.

Plenty of customisation methinks.

I never watched Forever Knight, but I loved Angel's ending (ignoring the comics, of course).

Total Godfather-esque blood shed, and a final throwdown with the forces of evil. Doesn't get much better than that, ladies and gentlemen.

lol......a throwdown that is going to end in the death of everyone (without the comics of course) and the beginning of the reiogn of hell on earth.......nice

What better way to end a series? Besides, I love nihilistic endings, they are so freaking awesome. I still laugh my rear end off at the end of Romeo and Juliet.

already noticed that most quest would be in the same area not that surprising since kirkwall is supposed to be the main area.

The unsatisfying ending probably means a cliffhanger because im betting if they make Da3 it would be like a Da2part2 unless they continue it with dlc

limited class proggresion is probably for the companions but im not to bothered by that

But all in all 88 and 87 aren't bad scores at all

DA:O's ending wasn't satisfying to me(after playing through many hrs). i mean you had the slaying dragon+speeches, then a series of wallpaper-text.

perhaps DA2;s didn't finish up nicely? being a framed narrative its tricky to end on a high note, since we've already seen a snippet of how it 'ends'.
Most recent film I've seen with a framed narrative? Megamind--satisfying and funny. But the story ends, finito. leaving no room for a sequel- perhaps we are going to be left in the wind with DA2. :/

this sentence is very bizzare. lol

I see a lot of assumptions being made. Somehow one reviewers 'unsatisfying ending' has become a cliffhanger, and the main reasoning seems to be fear that's its true and not any actual evidence.

Okay. You're disagreeing with the developers who told us that day and night versions of the same area take the same amount of resources as two different areas because that's what they are, but I'm sure you're basing this on your detailed understanding of area creation in the current DA toolset.

I'm basing it on common sense. Link to the dev quote or it didn't happen...

DavidSims wrote...

Day and night versions of each area are completely separate. The static level art is obviously pretty similar with mostly just a lighting change, but everything interactive within those areas is different unless we chose to duplicate it. Generally speaking all merchants, NPCs and quests are only in one version or the other. Not all areas have day/night versions: it's mostly major areas within Kirkwall.

So and where exactly did he say that it takes the same amount of resources? He even said "the static level art is obviously pretty similar with mostly just a lighting change", which is the opposite of same amount of resources and exactly what i said. *scratches head*

If I got an 88 out of 100, I'd be ecstatic. That is almost an A+! Unless you guys were raised by anal asian parents, you should be quite pleased.

Just to point it out: there's that other TGS  thread with many of the skill trees that people can look at. Then you can make up your own mind on the "limited class progression with fixed skill trees" thing.

EDIT: typed TGC earlier, but it's TGS (dang acronyms :P )

speaking of DLC i recently found this survey in which they ask how would you like DLC to be handled in future bioware games and which types of DLC do you like/dislike the most.

Didn't mean that in response to you, Crimzon. Granted, my prior response about the story was mostly aimed at your concerns.

But that post where you asked the question wasn't. It was just aimed at everyone worried about it really.

Edit: For reference regarding talent trees, http://social.biowar...1/index/6090138

Someone kindly took images of them all and provided dsescriptions. The dev replies are good in that thread as well.

"poor level design with one-to-one copy-pasting of whole quest areas (do they mean, some areas are a carbon copy of each other???)"

This sounds pretty horrible.

it's the same like me1 where only 3 "dungeon maps" were available with different names for the subquests. or like the dlcs where areas from origins and awakening were reused. btw the demo was also shipped with the mag - and i have to say that i like the new fighting system. it's fast paced but in the same time never confusing although as a mage i really miss the iso view.

I've been reading GameStar since 1997 and will continue to do so.

Usually their reviews contain a lot of truth.
And my experience is, whenever a game gets scored above 85%, it's more or less a safe buy.

They gave ME2 88% and were very enthusiastic about it. They seldomly grant 90%+ scores, mostly only if the game really breathes new air into the genre or something like that. And I can't remember they ever gave a 95% score. Have never seen that.

So 87% is rather a good sign than a bad sign if it comes from GameStar.

And as far as I know, they have extremely good contacts to most companies, so getting review copies far before official release is normal in their case.

In case people haven't seen it and missed my post, I'd highly recommend checking this thread out with descriptions for each talent tree:

http://social.biowar...1/index/6090138

Also, check the dev replies out. It should set fears at ease that there's a lack of customisation options.

cassandra's role is to find hawk because she wants an answer to a question since he/she influenced the current state of the chantry

varrick already knows the answer since he was with him/her so it makes sense the story ends like that what would be the point of cassandra to look for hawke when she already knows the answer?

Ugh. Scores. Especially scores /100. Did these mags print their criteria?

IMO, what is said is way more important.

Did you forget A-?
85-89 = A-
80-84 =B+
seems more realistic to me

no

Stories using framing stories usually conclude the story in the present where the story is being told. Can anyone think of any that don't?

yeah in my school A- and such were nearly non existant scores....same as B- because we had 2 letter grades A/B, B/C, C/D and the likes
