Xbox 360. Why?

because to PC players the feature is pretty much unimportant since if they want an NG+ experience all they have to do is bring up the debug console and "add XP" and "add item" until they have rebuilt their character the way it was when they finished the previous run

To be honest, the German's probably got the version of the game that cuts out all romance/violence/language, so you can't really listen to them...

For what reason? Do they generally  have a cut  version  of the games with more adult contens?

Yeah that's how it is in Germany. Dunno if these reviews are for the regular game or for the censored game though.

I see. I think we have to wait and see when this reviews are showed up. Maybe some German users could translate them when they come up. Maybe we can understand from the review if they are based on the cut version.

I doubt it

a review copy is NOT the retail copy. A review copy is NOT cut

Here is my take on Bioware sequels. Generally speaking, based on how they did Mass Effect, they slim the game down, streamline it so the story goes down smoother. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved DAO and ME 1, but I went into ME 2 the same way I'm going to go into DA 2, expecting the game to just simply not be as good. Why? Mostly because it's very hard to do so well with a sequel that you forget how good the first game was when you were introduced to the world. Personally, I loved the ME 1 story far better than the second, but, I still enjoyed ME 2, and the gameplay in ME 2 was much smoother. In the same way, I seriously doubt the story in DA 2 will be better than DAO, simply because I've already been introduced to the world and setting basically, I'm just now in a different area with different issues to contend with. It's not going to be as immersive due to familiarity this time around with the world. The game play will be better I think, but the story is going to be more honed and because it's more character driven and less 'fantasy epic', it's not going to feel the same. Reviews that simply give it a con based on not being as good as the first usually, in my book, not judging the game as a game but whether it's the same as the first game. It very well may be, if the game wasn't a sequel but a stand alone game it's better, but no reviewer typically will look at it that objectively.

ME2 failed in that regard because it didn´t expand neither gameplay (combat was smoother, yes, but there was too much at times) nor story/universe. Plots from ME1 were barely touched, and no new significant ones were included.

Yeah, ME 2 was sort of the middle child, it was just a bridge to the end where I think a lot more of the ME 1 overall story will be wrapped up. It was neither a begining or ending sort of just a whole bunch of stuff in the middle. Good game, story was more meh. Same with DA 2 potentially. Adds to the world of DA but it's not the begining and I doubt it's the end of what they have planned.

"- limited class progression with fixed skilltrees"

Am I the only one who saw this coming? The trees don't branch out much to begin with, plus you have all the strict pre-requirements to gain most skills. Add all that together and you only have what is mostly the illusion of choice.

Warriors demonstrably have more choice and the mage progression is better than DAO. Don't see how the skill trees are fixed worse than DAO.

I see. I haven't said that it's not important, but that it's not a major feature. It's important and can add a lot of fun and replayabiliy to the game on consoles. But if they don't implement it, I can live without.

I think what they men is that you still HAVE to buy skills you do not need to get to the highest ranking skill of a tree

uh, the German version is usually without the violence, every hint of blood is removed as well. But naked skin is usually left in. ...But without the combat it can't be accessed *sob*

;)

to be fair though, DA:O and Dead Space were both uncut. DS2 had a few problems but was released uncut as well. I doubt EA is going to back down with DA2

And just because you can heavily invest in a tree doesn't mean progression isn't mostly linear.

DAO wasn't wholly linear? Seriously give up your trolling.

Oh, God. An 87 and an 88? I'm canceling my pre-order, I don't want play a ****ty game like this.

I know you're trying to be edgy and sarcastic here, but it really is pretty worrying that two different sources are saying the game is worse than Origins.  Sequels are supposed to improve and advance the series (see: ME1 -> ME2, BG1 -> BG2).

Also, 87 and 88 actually are low scores for a AAA game.  God of War 3, a pretty bad sequel to a great game, was given perfect or near-perfect scores by most mainstream game reviewers.

Maybe EA forgot to mail the checks in time.  :wizard:

eh....NG+ (according to a Bioware dev) is a trivial feature to "create" but like all features it requires testing to meet QA standards....I was hoping they would release it as a DLC since DLC has less QA strictness going on .....hell I'd pay 1200 MS points for it, I'm dead serious too. My problem is that there is no Bioware game (that I like....mind you I never played Sonic by bioware because I dislike sonic)  that I have played less than 6 times. But without an NG+ feature I'll be able to enjoy DA2 maybe twice (I have an utter aversion for re-working for something I have already achieved in character progression)....which is very sad to me

nope, a review copy is sent out by Bioware themselves, it's not a chopped up retail copy...the european equivalent of the FFC does not get their hand on those

The idea that the German version would cut out *romance* is totally ludicrous. Unless you think there's some hardcore porn in them there cutscenes.

Edgy? Not at all. They're within five poitns of the scores they gave Origins. It's not "pretty worrying" at all. You're making things way more meaningful than they actually are, maybe because it reaffirms your expectations (I don't know this, it's just a guess)?

I'm excited. Everything I've seen of DAII has shown improvements over every aspect of Origins. I can't wait to get my hands on the game.

Understand you point. Though I will play a lot of time DA2 to try the different styles. From the information we've got about the skills, I'm planning 1 S&S warrior, one two-handed warrior, one archery rogue and one damage dealer mage. So to me it will be at least 4 playthroughs, if I find DA2 a good game

Edit: only for curiosity, are you italian? Because I read in a post that you have friends that went to Lucca Comics, and I'm italian.

you are lucky then....see I could maybe stomach it if the game had a brilliant ending ....but apparently it's a cliffhanger so.......LOL

Basing your judgement on two reviews it doesn't seem very accurate to me, but since you seems a lot worried about the game, maybe it's a good idea to buy it later after you have a better idea about it.

I wonder if the Signature Edition upgrade ending 2 months before review copies were sent out and all the pre-order bonuses have anything to do with the quality of the game.  Hmm...

I see. I'm from Bari. I have a friend who has his siblings at Padova, and a schoolmate who attends university here.
Anyway, about the cliffhanger, I'm sorry about you. If well-made I find them interesting. I hope for you that you'll like the ending, though it's seems unlikely.

Yeah, they cut violance (against other humans) but not skin or language. But considering DAO or Dead Space 2 (single player) were uncut, i doubt DA2 gets censored.

Well these review will be far more accurate than ign or gametrailers or some main stream site.

They will give it as high score as mass effect 2 when it does not deserve it.

It wont be bad game ill still love it like every bioware game but it wont have what made da1.

DA1 was so successfull because it was nothing like a modern rpg.hardcore Rpg fans will like is less mass effect fans will eat dragon age 2 up.
