Doesn't anyone read multiple reviews anymore? I certainly don't pin all my hopes or worries on one individual's opinion. DOOM AND GLOOM!

lovely Lara AV

but that's 2 reviews not 1

You're still freaking out a bit prematurely. Go get a drink or something to calm your nerves.

Just as i thought its nothing like first.

To bad i already pre-ordered i would cancel this game seems not worth 60$ its more of on sale buy.

you know the game is better than origins and the only reason it got 87 was because the graphics got a 7 while all the rest was a 9

That was the DAO score.

nevermind you are right

I hope for you that there is there. I hope that there is some gold glitch, or that we can earn money considering the top selling prices.

notice....Awakening as well had a similar glitch (with the smugglers quest)....I wonder if that is the devs having mercy on us after not implementing NG+ LOL

Maybe. In DAO there is a another glithc like that in Lothering, in the trap make mission.
AnywaY, I should go. It was nice to talk with you. Italy rulez!

PCGamers review was an advertisement written before the game went gold.

Not enough time to critically analyze a game. I consider the review hogwash, and I am expecting DA2 to be an excellent game.

Look at it this way:

If you've already made up your mind that this game is going to be THE BEST THING EVER, you can only be disappointed.

If you, like me, are skeptical of what we've been shown and are not expecting something as engaging and well-written/acted as ME2, then you can only be pleasantly surprised.

Clearly, lowered expectations are the smart choice. I feel bad for those of you who have already decided this game will be GOTY ALL YEARS.

Also, 87 and 88 actually are low scores for a AAA game.  God of War 3, a pretty bad sequel to a great game, was given perfect or near-perfect scores by most mainstream game reviewers.

Only comparing review scores from the same reviewer is really valid. How many more times need it be said that ME2, declared game of the year by a bunch of mainstream outlets, also got 88 from Gamestar?

Call me stupid but seeing that DA2 uses framed narrative, why do the span of 10 years and the seven years we get to play exclude each other? I mean framed narratives are used to tell us the important events while leaving out the things we don't need to know.

(Like:
Arrival in Kirkwall and first quests - Year 1 and 2
Things heat up and our Hero keeps a low profile for 2 years
Quests to build your group - Years 5,6,7,8
Offscreen preparation for the final battle
Final confrontation - Year 10

and with that we play seven years in a 10 year timespan)

As for the unsatisfying ending: looking at the original german excerpts here it sound more like they didn't like that Cassandra was only a narrator. Noone said that Hawke's story ends in a Cliffhanger. This would be fine by me, a completed substory leaving room for more.

'Unsatisfying ending'?
It surprises me that a journalist would include such an objective statement in an article. Goes against everything I know about professional writing.

I wouldn't expect much less from the average video games 'journalist'. With that said I think people too often get a case of the tin foil hats in regards to early reviews. There is definitely something to be said about them not being complete enough perhaps (but that varies by the game) however all this buying out a reviewer stuff has always struck me as extremely silly. But then I don't have the mindset of someone who bases what games they buy entirely on what one publication says.

The PCGUK reviewer obviously completed it once, with a 50+ hour playthrough and gave some pretty thorough feedback for an early review.

Reviews are nice and all, but there are so many other ways to get a feel for a product before you buy nowdays.

I feel like I should draw a parallel here between this and Mass Effect 2 pre-release reviews.

...but I won't.

Regarding this "unsatisfying ending" - has anyone considered that we might be getting the usual epilogue slideshow-type ending? I could see someone calling that unsatisfying (I, however, don't mind the slideshow we got in DA:O, so eh).

I think BioWare would have done better this time around.

The reason I didn't mind was because they all gave adequate closure. Therefore, I would be perfectly okay with that approach this time. However I can see why people would want a cinematic-type epilogue. Still, this is purely a guess that that might be the reason for the comment. Unfortunately, I don't speak German, so I'll have to wait for an English-language review, heh.

You can if you want, since it was a wonderful game that was considered better than the first by consumers and critics alike.

Not the only one. DAO, to me, was great, but didn't fall into the epic category at -all.- It was a little too generic in many ways for me to feel it was truly epic in anyway.

I agree--I honestly think a more personal story is likely to be more "epic."

I hope we can have our Hawke and our Warden in our party in Dragon Age 3 to work on whatever is the reason for this alleged cliffhanger in DA 2!

I thought about writing a long drawn out post about doomsaying and such, but why bother. A number of people had already made up their minds about DA 2 a long time ago and are jumping on an 88 as validaiton that all their fears are founded.

No point trying to talk to somone that's decided the game would be bad well over a month or two ago.

The second group is just worried due to focusing on the negative things the reviewer said. They'll be in a position to make a better choice once they play the game.

So yeah...we could sit here for the next three days and debate the meaning of these reviews. Or you can wait until the 22nd and play the demo for yourself.

"- unsatisfying ending"

Hawke places the last piece of furniture in the new house, game over.

Seriously, the only thing that unsettled me was the 7/10 for the graphics, other than that the scores are quite pleasing.

Graphics don't look that great.

They are worse than Mass Effect 2... Just an upgrade from DA:O, which had aged graphics.
