It's the fact that BioWare work hard to deliver the game to everyone and this is the thanks they get.

I'm pretty sure the devs that made Two Worlds also worked hard, am I supposed to thank them for making a crap game?

I expect more quality from BioWare which is why it usually takes them several years to make a game. Instead with DA2 they chose to cut corners to release it quickly (no origins, no races, shorter lenght, recycled areas, cliff hangar ending etc.)

You know what one of my biggest problems is with the whole thing though? Aside from the forums being a cesspit.

It's the fact that BioWare work hard to deliver the game to everyone and this is the thanks they get. And no, I'm not a BioWare fan etc. I just appreciate good games and I'd think the same for every game company out there (unless there is a reason I really shouldn't)

Basically, there's a line that needs to be drawn between constructive criticism and critiscism that serves no other purpose than to be destructive. You get what I mean anyway.

Yeah, people do not realise how hard is to develop a game, not to mention an amazing game. But people here come and whine about bow strings, floating weapons and whatnot. How can you whine about the game being shorter with 10hours? Most people see only 50% of the content in the Bioware RPGs whereas other games with much less content not only sell more but get higher scores< insert your uncharted, bioshocks, assassin's creeds, etc.> Is that fair? NO!

We don't know if they cut corners or reached their goals. Until we play, we won't be able to know it the recycled areas are actually different, characters, etc. It's a little early to judge.

Yeah, but it's not like we're dealing with a company here who aren't known for making good games. I could liken it to being a writer though and having your work shat upon. It wouldn't feel very nice, especially if the people doing the insulting hadn't even read the work.

In any case, reply if you want. But I'm done, I think. There's really nothing more to say.

dart I will agree with you about the cliffhanger ending and maybe the recycled areas (we need to see how many), but I'm gonna have to disagree about the short developement cycle and the lackof origins and races. You simply cannot hold that against bioware

Here's the thing, make a hit, people will always have high expectations for the next one. Make the next one crap, people sure as hell gonna berate you.

Recycled areas must at least be significant if a reviewer had to make note of it.

So, DarthCaine, TW2 aside, can you give me a reference, source, or quote on the claim you made up?

Reviewers aren't meant to review a game before it's finished. PC gamer reviewed the game several days before it even went gold. And look it up, you'll find dozens of cases where those things were true.

Again, you're not responding to the claim you made.
You said "magazines" were being paid to hype up games.
Which magazines?
Where are the sources of them being paid off?
(By source I mean a reliable source from a reputable site)

It's Bioware! Even if this game has been rushed, you know it's not gunna be bad.

Why did you take the decision to have just one main character for DA2 as opposed to the multitude of main character options in  Origins?

Part of that is budgetary. If you look at Origins each of those origin stories was a huge undertaking. That kind of expense is great, as long as there is some impact to it and I think we got that in Origins. I think it was really important as Origins had to introduce the world and introduce every slice of life to the player. For the DA2 story, we actually started off with multiple starting points but we found that prevented us from telling the tale we wanted to tell and not to mention led to an extra expense.

Nah, Caine.

People are just going to complain regardless of what BioWare do and no matter the direction they took the game in, regardless of said quality. But hey, I have a lot of faith in humanity and I'm not a cynic.

And I mean it now, I'm done.

Good job talking about two games that aren't even out yet. Horrible FAIL. Save this talk until both are available

I expect more than "good" when it comes to Bioware. I expect something deserving of a 90+ (I know, subjective) metacritic score. I'm sure most of us do.

No less than 17 posts in the past 2 days with "The Witcher" "The Witcher 2" or TW in your history.

I would quote them all but that would take up half the page. If you want them, PM me.

cain...read that. Origins actually put the breaks on the kind of story they wanted to tell (on top of being an extra expense). They wanted to tell the story of ONE individual in DA2, like they did in ME. You cannot hold it against them it was not out of laziness or anything.

Nah, I mean you have post about that game in threads about the music of Dragon Age 2.  That was five months ago.

Been up to this for a while now huh?  ;)

It's not laziness. DA2 is not rushed. DA2 is meant from the start to be done quick and cheap.
