LOL seriously? After they switched characters altogether in from DAO to DA2? yeah in that case I was not expecting a non self conclusive story

Well, I remember the devs saying that Cassandra will play a larger role in DA3, so that was expected.

Depends on POV. Hawk's personal story, about the Champions rise to power, likely get's a resolution, but then the greater conflict that sparked this Seeker to action is left for the next game to resolve.

An example would be Prince of Persian Warrior Within. In the games true ending, you stopped the monster that was trying to kill you, and resolved some of the Princes personal issues. However, at the end of the game you're given a vision of future event (Two thrones) and it dosen't look good. The same thing could be happening here.

Ending: it turns out that Kirkwall was really a snowglobe and that all the characters were imaginary, dreamt up by an autistic child. Let's see who else is old enough to know which show that I'm referencing... *snicker*

It's only one review that said that. Plus, even if all the review said that they don't like the ending, you can still find the ending satisfying.

we now know it's a cliffhanger

I dislike 90% of the cliffhangers I've ever seen with VERY few exceptions

Well, you need to pay more attention, then. Especially as they set it up in the opening cinematic of DA2.

Saw this coming months ago.

Isabela plays a much larger role in DA2 as compared to DAO....did DAO end in a full cliffhanger?

Hmm...Nothing Unexpected, but like all reviews, it's personal opinions. The best reviews come from the fans themselves not the 'professionals'

Folks, I'm not sure the main story is the actual interrogation. The devs have repeatedly said that the story about why Hawke's the champion of Kirkwall, why he makes the decisions he does and how he gets there.

I'm sure that even if the present narrative thread with the interrogation isn't ended properly, the main story arc for Hawke (the whole purpose of the interrogation) will end okay.

Of course, I can't say for definite.

I do agree though that it would have been nice to finish for the story to lead up to the present and then proceed from there after the interrogation.

Isabela was a minor character. Cassandra is the one driving the narrative forward.

No, but then Isabela wasn't very important to the story of DAO. Cassandra is important to DA2, we've been told that her story is important in DA3 (it even tells us that in the opening cinematic), so... we're going to get a cliffhanger.

she is not driving the narrative forward she is only part of a framing device compriosed mostly by Varric....not the point tho, just because a character plays a larger role in another chapter that does not imply a non self conclusive story

Okay, so even if Hawks rise to power is resolved and explained, you're still upset because the Chantry is still in peril? Then consider this a story of how the world got into it's current mess, and not one of how it's saved.

Yeah, I posted before that part.
Anyway, it could be one of your exceptions. Though of course the probabilities aren't high.
Just curious, do you like ME and ME2 ending?

If that character plays a major role in the first chapter? Yes, yes it does.

It's called story-linking.

Well, it was a tv series, but I'll give a hint to help anyone outside the US goole: Howie Mandel.

Overarching metaplot =/= lack of self conclusion

in ME and ME2 you conclude the story...you stop saren, you stop the collectors while the overarching danger of the reapers is looming on. That is not a cliffhanger

I don't have the print magazines myself, got those infos from a german board. I'm trying my best with the translations.

PC Games gave it 88, pros and cons:

+ very well told hero story
+ varied followers, each with their own stories
+ great dialogs with moral decisions
+ exciting boss battles
+ martial-arts-fans should have great fun with possibly the fastest (or fast paced) battles in a fantasy game

- ...but old-school RPG players might have their problems with the flurry of activities in battles
- limited class progression with fixed skilltrees
- poor level design with one-to-one copy-pasting of whole quest areas (do they mean, some areas are a carbon copy of each other???)
- unsatisfying ending

Gamestar gave it 87, pros and cons:

+ thrilling storyline
+ great dialogs and quests
+ coherent / consistent game world

- some fiddly battles
- less epic as DAO

Their conclusion: great RPG, a little weaker than DAO

meh German  reviews tind to be off puting and the translation  form german to english you loose things

I still think that this will be the end of the line for Hawke (as I've thought since announcement), so the story of Hawke is self-contained. And she is driving the narrative as she is the one that does the interrogating.

DA: O you stop the Blight, DA: 2 you learn how Hawk rose to Power. What's the difference?

And the overarching danger of the war between the Chantry and the Magi looms over this one.

By your defintion, DA2 isn't a cliffhanger either. It starts with Cassandra demanding to know about the rise of the Champion of Kirkwall. Which we get to see. And by and large, create.

think about it.......Varric says Cassandra NEEDS Hawkr to fix things, she does not get Hawke by the end of the game so....doesn't that not lead you to believe she will have to find Hawke in the next game?

Take a deep breath. 88 isn't a bad score.
