Was there a lot of people worrying about Mass effect 2 also?

Every sequal has added pressure to be just as good, if not better then the game it's following.

On the other hand, DAII just looks completely kick-ass. Like, Kill Bill, but in reverse.

EA published Mass Effect as well, and (as an addition to my first statement), Mass Effect was ALSO a rubbish RPG. And not nearly as good is its sequel.

Seriously? Besides ME1, NWN was BioWare's worst game, hands down.

If you only played the OC, sure. Not if you played a custom multiplayer campaign with a DM.
There were also plenty of great PWs. People liked it because it was the closest thing to a P&P RPG you could play on a computer.

ME1 snagged me moment I played it on my computer(which was 2 months before release of ME2).
It made me like Bioware games again(first time was KoToR).

Maybe your thinking of NWN2, which is not that great. But NWN 1 has a huge following, especially with the abiity to create persistent worlds. It was kinda the precurser to MMO's and a lot of people used it. You could make your own adventure and have your friends play it. Like a table top or Pen and Paper, but with graphics.

I wonder if these boards were once home to fanboys complaining that Baldur's Gate wouldn't live up to Shattered Steel?

Absolutely not! Besides Baldur's Gate (the whole trilogy), NWN2 had a better story than any of BioWare's games.

Microsoft published Mass Effect. Of course, their evil is at least comparable to EA's.

Microsoft published the Xbox version of ME, EA published the PC version - just an FYI.

Just going to throw in that Obsidian, not BioWare, made NWN2.

How was it the precursor of MMORPGs when Ultima Online and Meridian 59 had been around for years when Bioware's NWN hit the shelves? Maybe you're thinking of the AOL game from 1991?

Ah, I see. Meh, I don't think that argument holds much water. I don't think BioWare is obligated to say "EA has nothing to do with how we make our games," but they do. Considering they could very easily say nothing about it, I'll believe them. And ME2 was leagues and leagues ahead of ME1 as long as you weren't expecting an RPG.

Am I the only one that loved ME1 and found ME2 bland and repetitive? I have high hopes for DA2 though. Everything looks great so far and most of the changes seem to be for the better.
Yes. Yes, you are. As far as subjective statements go, that's about as close as it gets to objectively wrong

Mass Effect 3? Skyrim Skyrim Skyrim
Comparing a third-person cover shooter RPG like ME3 to a first-person open world sandbox RPG like Skyrim, is like comparing pie to cake.
They are both delicious and both differant, why not try them both?

The precursor to MMOs were MUDs. Nevermind that MMOs were alive and healthy many years prior to 2002. NWN was a great engine (the original game was a bit meh, but everything else from the expansions to the community creations was great), but let's not attribute things to it that it doesn't deserve.
Really, the best part of NWN was the community creativity. Dragon Age might be a current gen RPG, but it is sorely lacking in community involvement in terms of campaigns etc (it's got plenty of superficial things from the community like armor though). I'm not sure if this is because it's a new generation that is computer illiterate now, or if it's because it's much more difficult to write campaigns for DA.
