Anathemic, your going to need to provide way more reasoning for way ME2 is worst then ME1, not just because of armor customization

And yet ME2 was still considered a better game then ME1.

ME1 Metacritic aggregate score: 91 www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/mass-effect

ME2 Metacritic aggregate score: 96 www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/mass-effect-2

So the "worriers" were in the wrong.

Um.. He linked a couple of metacritic scores.. So what? I disagree with him saying that Mass Effect 2 was better than Mass Effect because it got a slightly higher score. But I'm not jumping down the guys throat because of it.

Was it because he insinuated that you were "wrong" for being a worrier or some ****?

Yup, the naysayers were correct in their predictions. His statement is completely false.

Huh? I'm arguing that people's assumptions that the naysayers of ME2 were wrong is completely false, not how ME1 is better than ME2.

well armor customization for DAII isn't a problem, so far. Sure it sucked in mass effect 2 but that isn't a reason to say it's worst then mass effect 1

That wasn't the point of the thread, and the discussion that evolved. The fact is ME2 faced the same criticisms DA2 faces right this very momment. After the dust had settled ME2 was a great game for sure, but most of the issues that were habitually brought up in its developement did infact turn out to be issues people had with the game well after its release. Does that mean every criticism lobbed at DA2 is bound to be correct, or that it will lead to the game being bad? No, it doesn't. But i would hope that at the very least it would go some ways to stamping out this rabid extremism that exists on both sides of the fanboi spectrum.

Dragon Age II better prove all the naysayers wrong. If Mass Effect 2 did, then DAII should

Mass Effect 2 didn't...

ME2 has GOTY awards out the ass. I'd say it did.

Last I recall armor customization is still "barbie-fun time: my clothes are different color!"

What does that have to do with anything?

Naysayers for Mass Effect 2 were correct, there doubts in combat streamlining, weak armor customization, etc. were correct.

You posted ME2 won GotY award to disprove above statement.

I refuted with factual (and simplified) evidence regarding armor customization is weak in ME2, again confirming naysayers predictions.

Get it?

I felt the armor customization was handled better than in ME1. It let you not only change the color, but also choose individual parts to swap out. Whereas is ME1, when you just found armor a slapped the one with the highest stats on. The combat, IMO, was also more fluid than in ME1. I can't even bring myself to play ME1 anymore because of the lameness of the combat.

Whatever the naysayers have to say about 'lack of customization and streamlining combat', doesn't change the fact that ME2 is often regarded as the best game of 2010.

The point is not whether ME2 won the award or not, the point is that the naysayers were correct in there predictions. No one brought up whether ME2 won the award or not, so why bring it up?

Okay, the naysayers were correct. What's your point? Just because they were correct in their predictions doesn't change the fact that ME2 still a success.

Same goes for DA2. Just because people are saying it's "dumbed down" doesn't change the fact that it can still be a great game.

The naysayers aren't saying it won't be a great game for somebody. (Edit: At least, I don't think they all are.) They're worried that it won't be as good a game as it could be by their (possibly minority, but still prevalent) standards.

Edit: But maybe I'm giving them too much credit? I'm not really sure.

The naysayers were correct of course, but ultimately they weren't proved right if you explore all the various opinion on the game as they are far more fans of nearly every genre except rpgs and fighting games. For the lesser rpg fan,ME2 came across as a far better game and that's more important than the rpg factor.

The ME team made changes and they got rewarded for it with far better reviews and a ludicrous amount of awards.

Now,I have a very hard time believing that the DA team will be rewarded with the changes in the same way.I expect lower sales, lower reviews and plenty of backlash.Interest for ME2 outside of the Bioware forum was high, but the same isn't true for DA2.Add the fact that the game does look ugly as sin and art design is vulnerable to a love/hate approach and some will find the combat to be silly beyond belief and...

I expect DA2 to earn lower reviews than the first game, compared to ME2.

aparently DAII will have the best stroytelling so it might be just as good as origins, since it was just about a blight. the DAII story might not be as good but theirs more conflicts

Saying "yea well it won like 100 goty awards therefore any criticism anyone might have had is completely invalid" isn't really offering an opinion and is nothing less than a logical fallacy to boot.

Way to take what I said out of context to make your point seem more valid.

I pointed out that ME2 had so many GOTY awards to show that just because a group of naysayers are hollering "dumbed down" doesn't mean the game will be a failure, not to say any critism the game recieved is invalid.

Sorry if you took it that way.

What's one naysayer's worst nightmare, another person might  find appealing (like the consignment of omni-gelling to oblivion, where it rightfully belongs). Even if the naysayer is correct in his/her prediction - big whoop - chances are it only matters to them. So far they (the DA2 naysayers)  seem to be wrong about us not being able to play tactically, but hey, congratulations to them on whatever they end up being right about? *shrug*

Uhmmm I said "oh I swear"

You said ME2 and GotY award to backup the point I was arguing against (you quoted it in your first post against me) so i assume you are defending his post which is false.

Do you need help arguing or somethin' dude?

If you want to be as objective as possible, you need to look beyond the Bioware forums. There's a lot of concern regarding Dragon age 2 versus Mass effect 2.It's really simple as to why that is and it's not the dumbing down of the serie:

1) Atrocious marketing
2) Unlike Mass effect 2,Dragon age 2 look ugly as sin and is the victim of numerous jokes. It become really bad when haters post pictures of The Witcher 2 in a Dragon age 2 thread (including the Witcher 2 pictures thread on GAF which had pics of Dragon age 2 posted)
3) It's easy for people who have doubts to become negative when they see the combat...

Despite the dumbing down of Mass effect 2 which affected the enjoyment level of many hardcore rpg fans, nobody was really worried for the combat or graphics which looked better than the first.

So the truth is: no,there weren't this many people worried about Mass effect 2.I mostly post on Neogaf and the backlash against DA2 is nearly as bad as the one against Too Human.I am afraid of the reactions when the demo is released.  :P

Atrodous marketing? It isn't that bad and why should the method of market make the actual game bad?
