a lot of Europe countries don't have them, like how thepiratebay from Sweden is still online because they don't have laws against it. If leak was uploaded from say Sweden I'd find it hard for them to do anything about it.

Actually, we do have laws against it, we're just not that good at enforcing them...

If that's true we're not just no good at enforcing them, but we basically don't even try. Thepiratebay have been dragged through numerous lawsuits, but yet it's still there flashing it's nasty face at publishers.

I can't yet figure out in what context a demo release could be illicit. This is like cracking down on a ‘leak’ of the next build of Chrome or something.

I guess it's still individual property, when you download the demo you basically agree to a license.

It would likely fall under Intellectual Property: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intellectual_property

Good point.

I suppose it's just amazing that all that appears to matter here is time, since by downloading the ‘leak’ you are acquiring the same build of the same demo for the same nonexistent price.

Regardless... if anyone here can point me to somewhere where I can download the english version (not some german version that someone decided to subtitle), Please do so.

An object doesn't have to have an attached monetary value to have a copyright.

Uh yeah, fat chance of that happening. Anyone trying to look for an illegal copy of the demo, or has it, will likely have thier EA account banned.

Can't believe it, mods deleted the thread, it must be real.... jesus christ on a stick Bioware... If you gonna keep the demo from us for so long, please make sure it doesn't get leaked so only pirates get to play it first... srsly.

don't some countries have laws for situations like these?

Laws? Most of the digital kinda laws are mostly from the U.S. a lot of Europe countries don't have them, like how thepiratebay from Sweden is still online because they don't have laws against it. If leak was uploaded from say Sweden I'd find it hard for them to do anything about it.

But I doubt they would anyway, 2 day from release, not worth the lawsuit.

you know like in Australia where if someone breaks street date for a game EVERY store has to immediately put the game on the shelves

There is no english version. Right before the old thread "vanished" it was found out to be the german version.

there's a quite up to date rollback of the page. if they shut down a provider by law the page will pop up on another server somewhere on the world. there's no way to stop a decentralized tracker ;)

Even by solliciting illegal software, BioWare can take you down.

But don't take my word for it...

The law is pretty vague and at least 50% of the population (probably 90% of people under the age of 30) is against it.
We even have a political party called Piratpartiet (the Pirate Party).

No wonder Sweden doesn't have any major game developers...

That is just dumb.

I wish the mods would just make a sticky about the leaks. It's hard to tell what we're supposed to think about the demo from the Gamestar DVD and if we can talk about it.

Nope. German Voices german subtitles.

The image in the last thread changed something in an ini file to get the thing to display english on the launch menu. Nothing in that picture was false.

Pretty much this. Considering the German "leak" likely came from someone uploading the Gamestar DVD, it can hardly be called a leak.
