Evolutions always goes against norms. By definition.

I'm debating this idea.

Bacterial colonies often evolve to be drug resistant without anything going against the norm. I suppose you could say that any mutation is against the norm but I'd suggest that a small but consistent amount of genetic variation is the norm.

You are debating this idea based on your ethics. Nothing in the universe will testify against drugs or mutations. Life is scary to deal with without some kind of faith, that's quite true, for me too.

Didnt Chris Priestly say that this was a stage demo from when they first announced it? Its not the same demo that we're getting.

Relax, I wasn't talking about Sweden or it's lack of laws. I was talking about piracy.

Fine, but I'd pick my words more carefully the next time, because "No wonder Sweden doesn't have any major game developers... That is just dumb." sounds pretty damn insulting to me.

Oh, well...

Demo is leaked, mods delete said thread telling the news, people keep on debating here.

That's not evolution.  That's   environment-controlled adaptation.  There's a difference.  You can take a wolf at birth and domesticate it into a house pet too, thus forcing it to adapt to a human-shared environment.  But  you didn't make that wolf "evolve".

that simply isn't true. you can't domesticate a pure wolf breed. it took hundreds of years to breed the abjected dog we know.

Saying that a demo got pirated is like saying that you pirate air when you breathe... both air and demos are free.
You want to talk about piracy ? talk about pirating full games, songs, movies etc...not about pirating somethig that is free even if it got realeased before the company that made it wanted to be... that is called a leak and it has nothing to do with piracy

what you don't understand is that Bioware is going to have to explain to its shareholders (or who ever is in charge) why only a few people downloaded the demo from their website(you know since if you pirate it, it doesnt count as downloads on the website[the reason they are doing the whole "call to arms" stuff]. They will automatically assume no one is interested in the demo, and in the game thus not put much attention to it.

Exactly.

The folks at Posthuman Studios agree, and have referenced that video more than once.

Uh download doesn't count unless you log in to your EA account through the demo.

Reading comprehension is a beautiful thing when it exists.....downloads are irrelevant.  One person could download it and pass it around on disk and if a million people installed it from that disk and logged in with their EA account it's would count as " 1 million downloads.

Hm? I believe his point is that therefore whose bandwidth is used to retrieve the demo is inconsequential.

You are debating this idea based on your ethics.

I'm saying that a certain amount of genetic variation is normal within a population and that we can observe bacterial colonies evolve to be resistant to drugs by non-mutant natural selection and you think... it's a matter of ethics?

I'm not sure where you're getting that from.

Nothing in the universe will testify against drugs or mutations.

Um, okay.

Life is scary to deal with without some kind of faith, that's quite true, for me too.

I have no idea how this is a response to what I said.

that's bull****. you just searched the net and there's this article with generic facts about wolves. a wolf is a wild animal and therefore very shy. you can't kill their instincts and keep them as pets. they even smell small infects of your body and instantly try to change the alpha position. a dog with the right schooling will never try to do that! better speak with people who keep wolves - but not as pets but wild animals in their own yard.

German magazine issue came out including a copy of the German DA2 demo.

Cue piracy hysteria.

This.

The german demo that leaked is the game you're all getting. It's the german version for the german magazine that had a copy in it.

Owned.

Yep.  Its common knowledge.  I didn't even have to do a long google search.

Not sure what you're trying to debate.  Some states  have  specific Ordinences in the books outlining, in detail, the steps that need to be taken for someone to own a wolf.       They can be Domesticated, and Purchased.  period.

in fact, they're quite Sociable.

Any more common myths you'd like to provide for us?

What's harder - domesticating a wolf or waiting for a Bioware demo?

A bacterial colony becomes drug resistant because you introduce the drug and the members of the colony that are weak to it die off* while those that can resist it survive and reproduce. You then introduce that drug again, and the weaker members die off while those that are resistant survive and reproduce.

As many bacteria reproduce every 10-15 minutes, you can go through over 600 generations of bacteria within a week. Eventually, you'll get a bacterial strain that is almost entirely resistant to a normal dose of the drug.
